#DontPauseForPimples: Team POPxo On 3 Times They ALMOST Let A Zit Spoil Their Big Day

#DontPauseForPimples: Team POPxo On 3 Times They ALMOST Let A Zit Spoil Their Big Day

I still remember it clearly—almost a decade ago, I was going to attend the first party of my life with my school friends. We had just cleared our board exams and we were so excited to meet our friends outside our school campus. Obviously, I was even more thrilled because my crush was going to be there. You know, the pehla pehla pyaar! Well, long story short, I didn’t attend the get-together. I sat at home while my friends had a blast and my crush forgot that I existed in the first place at all. My excuse? “Oh, I’m just under the weather and need some rest.” Real reason? A zit had emerged on my left cheek and I couldn’t gather the courage to face my crush.

Years have passed, but it still seems like it was yesterday. It’s horrifying. I cannot believe that I missed the chance to enjoy the first teen party of my life because of a zit. I mean, who would have even remembered that? Not me for sure.

Not going to lie, but this has happened to most of us at least once in our lives. We have canceled important plans, missed great opportunities, and let our insecurities win. It’s often followed by a phase where we obsessively apply hundreds of new products on our skin before understanding the real deal. When it comes to skincare, the most important thing is to keep our skin clean-both externally and internally. Use gentle products like Clean & Clear Foaming Face Wash that removes oil and 99.8% pimples causing germs from our skin. It suits every skin type, and works like magic from the very first use. In addition to this, you also need to eat fresh, green leafy veggies to keep our system healthy from within. Of course, avoid stress because believe it or not, a happy mind is directly proportional to healthy skin.

Remember ladies, it’s okay to have bad skin days. Breakouts are normal, happen to almost everyone, and we cannot let them interrupt our lives. And, these experiences from #TeamPOPxo talking about their bad skin days are proof enough. That’s right, we all have let our insecurities ruin our big days at least once. ALMOST. But, here are the reasons why they didn’t allow zits to overtake their lives:

When A Zit ALMOST Ruined My Perfect Date, But…

So I have this amazing tendency of manifesting a zit right before a big day is approaching. Convocation…a cousin’s wedding…my first day at the office—you name it and I would have had a zit on each one of these days. Oh, and the location is ALWAYS the tip of my nose. It is embarrassing, to say the least, and becomes all the worse when my nose goes red, hot right before a date. Yup! A few years ago, my nose went all swollen right before a big date. Toothpaste, cloves, concealers…I tried everything only to chuck it all in the end. I was meeting someone that I really liked, someone that I could have spent my life with, and hiding something that was a constant struggle for me didn’t feel like an amazing idea. So I went to the date with the zit sitting at the top of my nose in all its glory and well, it felt so freeing. Yes, we did have a good laugh about the ill-timed monstrosity on my face but that kinda also helped us bond better. Four years since then and we are still going strong! As for the zits—let’s just face it, I might as well have one on my wedding day and I guess it’s alright.

When Zits ALMOST Made Me Stop Looking At The Mirror

Do you know those girls who pass through their puberty years without as much as a zit or weird skin pigmentation due to changing hormones? That was me. Always amazed by how my skin went through my school AND college years without as much as a period breakout, I was low-key proud of how my minimal skincare did the trick. Flash forward to my 23rd birthday when the lockdown started, and to everybody’s surprise, my skin was breaking out like anything. Was it my karma of being too proud of my skin? “It’s the Covid-induced stress”, my dermatologist said. I was experiencing the zit-induced anxiety I thought my life was gleefully devoid of. Now when I look back, I don’t even remember how many or how large those breakouts were because I had stopped looking in the mirror. It wasn’t until I met with my friends after a year-long hiatus of social engagement that nobody seemed to care. I guess all my anxiety was more about what people would think of ‘the girl who never broke out’. Since then, my skincare has gotten more of my attention. I have been using Clean & Clear Foaming Face Wash that has immensely boosted my confidence by keeping my skin zit-free. Yeah, I do get my occasional period breakout, but now they have cute nicknames. Also, I have continued my mirror gazing obsession with myself (as one should).

When A Zit ALMOST Ruined My Farewell Party

I struggled with breakouts throughout my teenage years. For the most part, zits didn’t bother me, but I remember this one time when a ginormous zit popped up on my chin right before my school farewell party. I almost backed out of attending it because the monstrosity was glaringly obvious.  Makeup didn’t help either. This party was something we had all been excitedly waiting to attend, so it didn’t feel right to ditch it last minute just because of a zit. So I went, ready to face my schoolmates with this embarrassing pimple, expecting them to give me a weird look. Much to my surprise, hardly anyone pointed it out. It made me realize that people don’t really notice all the marks or zits on our faces as much as we do. The lesson I learned is that nobody cares! Even if they do, there’s no point getting anxious over something that I can’t change. Zits still pop up every now and then, but no longer do I feel the need to hide them.
