It’s 3 am, you’ve just set your alarm for the next day and you realise that you’re going to get just about 6 hours of sleep, that too if you doze off this instance. You’re worried that it will lead to more darkness under your eyes, puffiness, and not to forget pre-mature wrinkles!

Have you ever wondered why the skin around our eyes exhibits the initial signs of ageing? That’s because this skin is the thinnest in the body and requires constant care. There are also fewer oil glands in the area hence making them more susceptible to damage.

And you know us, we’re always looking for DIY home remedies that can fix any problem. So, today we’re listing down easy recipes that are great for the under-eye area. C’mon, give them a go.

DIY Turmeric Under Eye Mask

You’ll Need:

  • 1 tbsp. turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp Buttermilk
  • Bowl
  • Cotton pads

Step 1: In a bowl, add all your ingredients and mix them well.

Step 2: Next, take a cotton pad and cut it into two parts. Dip both the parts into your DIY solution and then place them under your eyes for 30 minutes.

This DIY under-eye mask can be your ultimate solution to those stubborn dark circles. Just make sure you skip this DIY if you have somewhere important to be as the turmeric could leave a faint stain behind. Also, do not place them too close to the eyes as turmeric is a spice and could cause irritation to the eyes.

DIY Rose Mask

You’ll Need:

  • Rosewater
  • 1/2 cucumber
  • Blender
  • Cotton pads
  • Bowl

Step 1: Blend half a peeled cucumber in a blender for a minute.

Step 2: Next, pour out the cucumber juice into a bowl. Do use a sieve to get rid of the seeds.

Step 3: Finally, add 8-10 drops of rosewater to it.

Step 4: Cut a cotton pad into two parts and dip it into the solution whenever you need to give your eyes a break from constant screen time.

This refreshing DIY under-eye mask is a great way to calm irritated or puffed-up eyes. Just make sure you place the solution in a fridge as it hits differently when it’s cold.

DIY Coffee Mask

You’ll Need:

  • 1 tbsp. coffee grounds
  • Egg whites ( from 1 egg)
  • Fork
  • Face mask brush
  • Bowl

Step 1: In a bowl, add the egg white from one egg and beat it repeatedly using the fork till the mixture becomes frothy.

Step 2: Add ground coffee into it and mix everything nicely.

Step 3: Using a face mask brush, apply it under your eyes gently.

Although caffeine is great to depuff under the eyes, the solid coffee grounds can cause wear and tear if you’re not careful. Be sure to be gentle and wash your under eyes with cold water.

DIY Green Tea Mask

You’ll Need:

  • 2 Green tea bags
  • Rosewater
  • Dropper

Step 1: Take 2 green tea bags and add a few drops of rosewater in them using a dropper.

Step 2: Place those tea bags into a refrigerator for about 5 minutes before placing them on your eyes. Ahh, heaven!

Due to its higher flavonoid content, green tea can help reduce the appearance of under eye bags greatly. Do this once a week and you shall see the results soon.

DIY Potato Under Eye Mask

You’ll Need:

  • 1 potato
  • 5 mint leaves
  • Blender
  • Cotton pads

Step 1: In a blender, add one sliced potato, 5 mint leaves, and  2-3 tbsp of water and turn it on.

Step 2: Pour the thick juice into a bowl and squeeze it properly using your clean hands.

Step 3: Cut a cotton pad into two equal parts, dip it into the solution and then apply it under your eyes for 30 mins.

This is a great everyday mask that can help you lighten dark circles in no time.

If you’re looking to take care of your under eyes with a store-bought product, we suggest picking up the Manish Malhotra Haldi Eye Gel as it is made with Ayurvedic ingredients like haldi and lavender oil. It improves skin elasticity and blood circulation and lightens dark circles and reduces puffiness. Amazing, right?

Trust us, these DIY maks will be your saviour after a late night Netflix binge.
