5 DIY Masks That Will Revive Dull & Frizzy Hair

No one is safe from frizz this season. The clammy rainy weather does absolutely nothing good for our hair. In fact, all that wind and water and high humidity leads to frizzy, unruly, and dull-looking hair, in some cases even dandruff.

But don’t think that an in-salon hair spa will save you RN. You’ll just be wasting your money ’cause the stormy weather will make your hair go back to how it was before the treatment. Instead, take matters into your own hands and whip up a simple and effective hair mask with ingredients that you probably already have. Here are a few DIY hair mask recipes that will save you from frizz this season.

DIY Ghee + Amla Hair Mask

This hair mask is great for adding lustre and shine to dull and limp hair. It also strengthens the hair and makes it smooth. Mix 3 tablespoons of amla powder with a teaspoon of ghee and enough of hot water to form a runny paste. Apply this mixture from root to tip and wash it off after 30 to 40 minutes with a shampoo and conditioner.

DIY Aloe + Almond Oil Hair Mask

When frizz isn’t going away no matter what you try, use this hair mask to effectively smoothen your locks. Mix equal parts aloe vera gel and almond oil and apply it all over your hair. Leave it on for an hour and then wash it off with a moisturising shampoo and conditioner.

DIY Banana + Olive Oil Hair Mask

For a deep conditioning treatment to manage frizzy locks, whip up this simple DIY hair mask that has only two ingredients. Mash one banana and mix in a spoonful of olive oil. Apply this mixture all over your hair and leave it on for 30 minutes. Wash the mask off with a shampoo and conditioner and you’ll notice a visible difference.

DIY Curd + Methi Hair Mask

With the rains there is not only frizz but dandruff too. And luckily this DIY hair mask treats both frizzy hair and dandruff in one go. Simply mix a bowl of curd with 3 tablespoons of fenugreek powder (methi powder) and let it thicken by leaving it for 2 to 3 minutes. Apply it on the scalp and lengths and let it work for 15 mins. You can then wash it off with shampoo and conditioner to enjoy silky smooth, dandruff-free hair.

DIY Egg + Mayonnaise Hair Mask

If you’re in the mood for a hair protein treatment, skip the salon and try this DIY hair mask instead. Mix a tablespoon each of mayonnaise, olive oil, and coconut oil with an egg yolk and two vitamin E capsules. Apply it to your hair and leave it on for 40 minutes. You can put a shower cap on to prevent it from dripping. Wash it off with shampoo and conditioner and enjoy salon-like results at home.

Additionally, managing dull and frizzy hair calls for a good hair serum post a hair wash routine. I love using the St. Botanica Moroccan Argan Hair Serum to fight frizz.
