6 Affordable Alternatives To Shaving Cream That You Can DIY This Summer

Razor burn, chafing, cuts, ingrown hair—ah, shaving can be quite painful if you’re lazy and use soap to shave your body! Have you ever tried using men’s shaving cream? I have.  I loved the way it made the razor glide over my body, unfortunately – it’s not only expensive but it’s super bad for you in the long run. You know chemicals and all? Lucky for you we’ve found you some recipes for DIY shaving creams so you can kiss those razor burns and chemicals goodbye. These will leave your skin glowing and your razor good for longer! Check em’ out.

1. Coconut Oil

If only we had a penny for every time we’ve mentioned to you a million benefits of coconut oil. If you live in India, you know you’ve got unlimited access to quality and organic coconut oil. Just scoop some coconut oil into a bowl, heat it up for a few seconds and slather this on your body. You want to do this in the shower to avoid making an oily mess in your bedroom. Once you’re all oiled up, just shave as you would normally and rinse off with warm water and mild soap. Your skin will be soft, smooth and glowy. And no razor burn!

PS: Just make sure you scrub the oil off your bathroom floor to avoid any slipping accidents.

  • 3-4 drops of Lavender, peppermint or tea tree essential oil (optional)

Combine the ingredients in a plastic container and whip it up until it turns into a creamy consistency. Apply it all over your body as a thin layer and then shave as you would normally. You can store this in the fridge for a week or two for use later.

3. Baby Oil

Just like coconut oil, baby oil works like a really great shaving agent. It’s lighter than coconut oil too so if you don’t like the sticky texture of coconut oil, give the baby oil a shot.
