We looked up to Bollywood celebrities for some inspiration and came up with some reliable tricks that will work.

Festive Dressing For Ganesh Chaturthi

In sync with the current scenario in mind, designer Monisha Jaisingh too gave us some advice on festive dressing for the season. “Even though you will not be going to a social gathering this year, it shouldn’t be the reason to not look your ethnic best during Ganesh Chaturthi. One can still wear a simple yet elegant outfit, keeping it comfortable whilst letting our attires talk about the rich heritage and culture.” Scroll down for the best of Bollywood looks you can emulate.

Classic Weaves

There’s no better time than a festival to dig into your mother’s wardrobe and make a selection from her classic drapes and weaves. From Banarasi brocades to Paithini and more, there is no dearth of options in Indian textiles when it comes to gearing up for the festivities.

Experimental Drapes

Should you wish to make way for a more modern version of the saree, there is always enough room for experimenting with your choice of pattern, style, blouse and accessories, keeping in sync with the festivities. In the ace designer, Monisha Jaising’s words: “Dressing in this season can be loud yet it can be adjusted well with makeup and required accessories.”

All Over Patterns & Hues

“Since we all are celebrating at home, comfortable and elegant wear is our go-to wardrobe saviour. For instance, twin or coordinate sets, kurtis in pastels and varied hues would do the magic. Colours are imperative during auspicious festivals as it helps in building positive vibes. Additionally, they also compliment patterns and designs very well,” elaborates Monisha Jaising. Taking cues from the designer, for Ganesh Chaturthi dressing, you can wear your bright or pastel-hued offerings, accessorising to add to the elegant appeal.

Neutral Alternatives

“Wearing a monochrome Indian outfit with a heavy dupatta can also make you look fabulous during this occasion. Classics such as a cotton silk kurta paired with linen pants are a classy pick” says the designer. Should you be thinking about keeping the rest of your look subtle for at-home Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, opt for a floral embroidered dupatta as seen on Sonam Kapoor, adding juttis to the festive mix.

Prints & Flares

Wish to take it up a notch with your flared lehenga that flaunts the best of prints? Take out your ensemble from the wardrobe, giving it a spin for the Ganesh Chaturthi festivities. Be it distinctive prints in the same colour, as seen in Shraddha Kapoor’s lehenga or a head-to-toe version, a flared iteration could be the fail-safe way to work a festive look.

Mix & Match

Whether you are celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi at home or getting together with friends and family for an intimate affair, experimental tops never fail to impress, especially when paired together with a remarkable lehenga. Get creative with your off-the-shoulder and one-shoulder crop tops and blouses, adding a dupatta if the need arises.

—While choosing an outfit always remember to check for the right colour which fits with the festival.
—The trends will be a little subtle and simple this year. You can still play with the colour palette, highlighting some unique design elements.
—In terms of festive shopping, the advice would be to shop smartly and with care, keeping social distancing in mind.
-Celebrations will mostly be limited to intimate affairs with the inner circle, where functionality and comfort should not be forgotten.
