A few weekends ago, I was invited to a close friend’s wedding. It was a three-day event, with a sangeet ceremony, a cocktail party and the main event, wedding. Since I was one of the groomsmen, the ceremonies kept me occupied. I was also juggling work at the same time. During the day, I was going to the office (yes, my friend did get married on a weekday) and then back to moonlighting as a baarati at the wedding. At the end of it all, I was exhausted. I wanted nothing more than to soak my feet in a bucket of warm water and pass out on the sofa.

That was just over three days. Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh have been going on with their wedding festivities for more than two weeks now. From the time the two touched down at Lake Como, it has been a hard, gruelling schedule. The three-day wedding, the flight back to India, the back-to-back receptions at Bengaluru and Mumbai – DeepVeer have been on the move non-stop, and they still have their Bollywood bash on December 1. Ranveer’s sister Ritika Bhavnani also hosted a special party for the two in Mumbai last week.
To give you a rough estimate of the amount of travelling DeepVeer have done for their wedding and reception, here’s a number – 1,380 minutes. That is the number of minutes Deepika and Ranveer have spent on travelling (that we know of) over the past few weeks. This comes down to a shade under 24 hours.

Let’s break it down. A direct flight to Milan from Mumbai and back takes around eight-and-a-half hours each way. The drive from Milan’s Malpensa Airport to Lake Como is about an hour and 20 minutes. DeepVeer also flew down to Bengaluru and back, another 200 minutes there. This does not even include the time take to clear customs, travel to the airports and the rides from their homes to the different wedding and reception venues.
Another staggering number is the amount of time Deepika must have spent getting ready for all the five functions (sangeet, two weddings and two receptions). By our calculations, Mastani spent between 600-840 minutes or nearly 10-14 hours in total to get ready with her hair, makeup and outfits.
That would have it over 2,200 minutes or 36 hours in travel and dressing alone! In that amount, you could watch all three DeepVeer movies back-to-back four times and would still have time to spare. Are you making a note on your Why Bhagwan Why Notebook, or did we lose you there?
To DeepVeer’s credit, the two have always sported their best looks and the widest of smiles through the countless photo-ops and never gave a sign that they have had enough.
Last night, the couple were standing for nearly four hours to greet guests at their Mumbai reception. This was with all their heavy wedding attire on. Deepika’s dupatta itself looked like it weighed a tonne, and don’t get us started on the jewellery. In one moment, Deepika was seen holding her necklace when she bent down to pick up a fallen envelope and it looked quite heavy. Think about the workout sessions required to stand for hours with such heavy ornaments on!
As DeepVeer begin to wrap up their celebrations, the focus turns to Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas in Jodhpur. Their wedding will also be followed by two receptions – in Delhi and Mumbai. Fast on their heels are Isha Ambani and Anand Parimal, and their events will also be attended by Bollywood biggies and business honchos.
Bollywood hasn’t seen a celebrity wedding season like 2018. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that the entire country, along with DeepVeer, Nickyanka and the Ambanis, needs a long Christmas and New Year break.
