Deepika Padukone Finishes Her Cannes 2022 Innings In Indian Couture & We Are So Proud

A saree is easily the most versatile piece of clothing. From the girl next door to the queen of the whole damn world, you can channel whatever vibe you seek with the right draping and styling. And yet we rarely witness the true magic of the six yards on international red carpets. Thankfully, Deepika Padukone has tried her best to change the narrative this year at Cannes.

While the actress kickstarted her innings in a retro creation by Sabyasachi, she has now concluded it on a similar note. For the Festival de Cannes 2022 closing ceremony, Deepika decided to opt for an ethereal ivory saree by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla and we are lovestruck. Here’s everything we love about the look:

Finishing In Style: DP’s In Her Queen Element

For the Cannes Film Festival closing ceremony Deepika looked like a full-fledged maharani. Her all-ivory outfit comprised an Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla saree complete with dramatically pleated ruffles and a trail. She paired it with a pearl and crystal bustier which was perfectly matched by a hand-embroidered collar.

Ivory garments is where the designer duo Abu and Sandeep have always put their creative best. The hue just speaks to them and DP’s look is no exception. It’s gorgeous how the gauzy georgette mixes with the stiffer organza. However, it is the pearl collar that stands out for us as the statement detail. We love how a gradient effect has been created with tiny pearls on the top that get progressively bigger at the bottom. We’d like to think that this is how a modern-day maharani will dress up on a special occasion.

Deepika has aptly completed the regal look with Birdi Chand polki studs, a clean-swept bun, strong eyes, and nude makeup. It is apparent that she is sure of what she is bringing to the closing ceremony in that look. It is effortlessly glamm and breathtaking. Also, it is a reminder that dramatic gowns and all are nice, but we shine differently when we represent our roots and heritage.

Here’s hoping everyone takes a lesson in red carpet dressing from Deepika. This year, she was representing Louis Vuitton as their newly appointed House Ambassador and yet the actress chose to both start and finish in Indian couture. We are so proud!
