In May 2021, Netflix announced they were creating a spin-off series focused on Queen Charlotte, and finally, we got blessed with an exciting update from the show. We stumbled upon the snap on Netflix’s Twitter and it says, “Introducing Arsema Thomas as Young Lady Danbury in Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. Coming to Netflix in 2023.”
Adorned in feathers, jewels and luxe fabrics, this young society maven certainly looks like the star of the show already!
All You Need To Know About Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story
The spin-off is all set to serve as Queen Charlotte’s origin story, and bless us with a new romance as the young woman falls in love with the King of England. That’s not all, the show will also shine a light on the major societal shift that followed the couple’s marriage; as Lady Danbury previously mentioned in season 1. Charlotte’s marriage opened the door for non-white elites to enter society. The titular role will be played by India Amarteifio.
Last year, Bela Bajaria, Netflix’s head of global TV, opened up about the show and the team Bridgerton’s plans. She said, “Many viewers had never known the story of Queen Charlotte before Bridgerton brought her to the world, and I’m thrilled this new series will further expand her story and the world of Bridgerton. Shonda and her team are thoughtfully building out the Bridgerton universe so they can keep delivering for the fans with the same quality and style they love. And by planning and prepping all the upcoming seasons now, we also hope to keep up a pace that will keep even the most insatiable viewers totally fulfilled.”
