6 Controversial Bollywood Family Feuds That Became News

Parivaars that stay together are the happiest’ has been Bollywood’s mantra for long. While movies like Hum Saath Saath Hain and Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Ghum had family feuds as their themes, they failed to show that these fights can get ugly.

As ideal as the stars appear in their reel life families, the reality is flawed. Govinda and Krushna’s public fallout is a recent example. Though the mama-bhanja rift dominated headlines in 2016, their recent media interviews are again throwing the light on what went wrong. And they just reminded us of six times Bollywood’s most controversial family feuds became news. Intrigued? Scroll down:

Govinda vs Krushna Abhishek

The fight between Govinda and Krushna started when the former chose to go on The Kapil Sharma Show for his film promotion instead of Krushna’s Comedy Nights Live! This irked the comedian and he said in an interview, “A star is free to go on other shows, but being family, I expected him to come to my show first. He is behaving like a superstar now and not my Chi Chi mama.”  After this, Govinda also opened up and shared that he doesn’t like the way Krushna roasts people on his show. Fast forward to 2023, Govinda’s wife Sunita recently told a leading daily, “Krushna and Aarti had not been truthful about the time when we helped them. They said we gave them Rs.2000 as pocket money, but it was way more!”

Sunaina Roshan vs Family

Back in 2019, the Roshan fam made headlines when Sunaina Roshan opened up about being persecuted by her father for dating a Muslim guy. She repeatedly described her circumstances as ‘living in hell’! In her words, “Last year my father slapped me and told me that the guy I loved was a terrorist.” Sunaina shared that her brother Hrithik also sided with his parents and didn’t support her decision. Sunaina even reached out to the famous ‘Roshan enemy’—Kangana Ranaut—for help!

A few years ago, the heartthrob of Bollywood spoke about having a turbulent relationship with his dad, late actor Rishi Kapoor. He revealed about waking up in the middle of the night and hearing his parents fight for hours. The Rockstar actor said, “Sometimes the fights would get really bad. I would be sitting on the steps, my head between my knees, till five or six in the morning, waiting for them to stop.”

Ameesha Patel vs Her Father

Did you know that the Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai actress once sued her parents in court over money matters? Reportedly, Amisha’s father, who was also her manager invested 12 crores to revive a business without discussing with her. This infuriated Amisha, who already had a rocky relationship with her parents, and she filed a legal suit against them. However, the matter was later settled outside the court. The actress revealed later that her mom once beat her with ‘chappals’ because she caught Amisha with the then-boyfriend Vikram Bhatt.

Mr. Perfectionist of Bollywood tries to stay away from controversies. However, his troubled relationship with his dad and a long battle for his brother’s custody became the talk of the town, back in 2007. Things got worse when his father remarried and even won the custody battle for his brother Faizal.

Neetu Singh & Babita Kapoor

Looks like Bollywood is no exception when it comes to cold wars between sisters-in-law. Due to an internal family feud, Neetu Singh and Babita Kapoor have been in a cold war for 25 years now. Though none of them addressed this matter publicly, their absence from each other’s kids’ weddings said it all. What broke the ice after 25 freakin’ years was Bebo’s marriage. Both Neetu and Babita reunited in 2012!
