Purple Eye Makeup Is Having A Major Moment & Here’s How You Can Get In On The Trend!

Ever since Miss (co)Rona came into our lives, makeup has definitely taken a backseat, especially lipstick. Oh, hello, face mask! In fact, people are also ditching their full coverage foundation for lighter alternatives because, again, masks. It’s safe to say that eye makeup is all that people are focusing on now, to channel a glam look, as it’s the only part of the face that’s visible. The only part to do the talking, like literally.

ICYMI, purple is having a major moment right now! Whether it’s purple hair, purple nails or even purple makeup, everyone’s living for it. And why shouldn’t they? It’s the perfect choice of colour for every season! For instance, pastel purple shades for hot sunny days or a darker, plum shade when you know winter is coming. If you want to get in on the trend–which we think you should–check out these celebrity eye makeup looks and get inspired to add a pop of purple to your eyes.

Celebrity-Inspired Purple Eye Makeup

Purple is such a glamourous colour to look at as well as wear, and definitely more wearable than others from the non-red, non-pink palette. Here’s how you can incorporate purple into your eye makeup like a B-Town celeb!

Line It Right

Not everyone’s comfortable sporting bright shades on their lids, we know. But if you do wish to get out of your comfort zone, do it sneakily like PeeCee here. Choose a darker shade of purple, apply it directly over your black eyeliner and that’s basically it. To make it pop, go for a glitter variation.

However, if you want your eyeliner to stand out from the crowd, ditch the black base and do it like Hailey Beiber! Just a simple stroke of a bright lilac and voila! We love!

Remember this viral look of Deepika Padukone from Met Gala 2019? Of course, you do! Everything about it was loud and proud, not that we are complaining. The dress, the hair and that exaggerated cat-eye: mewow! We love how her makeup artist did her eyes–two (or maybe three) different shades of purple with a dash of glitter on fleek; perfection! Just like Deepu, you too can ditch your boring smokey eye and go big with purple. Your facemask look will love it!

Mascara is the ultimate makeup game-changer, especially if you use a nice, volumizing one. But why stop at black tho? Colourful lashes are back and here to stay. Exhibit A: Sara Ali Khan. Just like Sara, upgrade your go-to mascara for a coloured one! We suggest purple, obviously.

If you thought that you cannot wear purple eyeshadow with equally bright clothes, well, you thought wrong! We love how Sonam Kapoor owned this look in 2019. Starting in the inner corner of the eye with a sombre blue shade, a little grey shadow in the middle, and finally dark plum on the outer side–brilliant! If there is such a thing as the perfect purple smokey eye, this has got to be it!

Why apply one shade of purple when you can apply two? We’re loving this purple bonanza going on on Karisma Kapoor’s eyes. Why? You see, her makeup artist has used two shades of purple on her eyes, one brighter than the other. You literally need to apply one on top of the other to get this look–the fact that it’s so easy to recreate is what’s gotten us hooked.

Ready to purp it up? We know we are!
