Oh, how we wish to witness the Cannes IRL. And while the sensational pictures of Cannes 2021 are flooding the internet, we are sure the feeling is mutual at your end too. After a year of canceled red carpets, we were blessed with the resumption of the 12-day affair of the glamourous Cannes Film Festival last week, and celebrities displayed their excitement for the same through their red carpet looks.
From namely Hollywood and movie personalities to popular Indian celebs, the film festival was star-studded, like always. While the event is famously known for its headliner fashion, there were some stunning makeup looks that stole the show. Here is a list of 5 divas whose makeup artists understood the assignment:
There’s no denying that Bella is one of those personalities who kill it at their fashion game. When she comes, she brings her best game with her. Why would this red carpet be any different? Already in the headlines for her fashion statements, Bella Hadid also donned one of the most striking makeup looks.
In this look, with a cat smokey eye and brushed brows, her uplifting facial structure is highlighted. Bonus points to the brow bone highlight. To get this eye look, trace the outside of your lids with a darker eyeshadow, and clean up the outline with a cotton swab. Don’t make sharp lines here and leave it to a subtle cat eyeliner to add that definition. finish your eye look with a shimmery eyeshadow on the centre of your upper lid and some mascara for fluttery lashes.
For adding more structure to your face like Bella, contour the temples of your forehead, and under your cheekbones. Make sure you are blending the contour upwards and not downwards – this mistake can drag your face down. Pop a deep nude lip colour and overline your lips with a matching lip liner. Add highlight like usual.
We cannot find you a more smashing way of rocking your natural freckles. This seamlessly highlighted makeup look on Indian model Nidhi Sunil is giving us major makeup goals. Following suit with squinched and cat-shaped eye look, this look has a dense lash game and inner corner highlight which makes her eyes pop exceptionally.
This is an incredibly cohesive look, where a soft contour is harmonious with a light coral blush on the cheekbones. This blush placement gives your makeup look a lifted effect. To finish this look, go for a natural highlighter look and a classic deep red lipstick (always a great choice for Indian skin tones).
And yet another dewy makeup look that stole our hearts, French model Didi Stone came to slay. Following a theme with her white outfit and wet slicked back hairstyle, her makeup look is diamond-toned highlighted.
To get Didi’s makeup look, follow the under-eye brightening makeup base and set it with a powder. Contour your face, jawline, and nose. Now when it comes to highlighting, go for a cool, champagne toned highlighter. Dark and warm toned skin complexions do not pair well with snowy highlight. Line your lips with a nude shade and gloss it like a goddess.
Jessica Chastian rocks a timeless makeup look that will go in our list of classics. Pairing perfectly with her fiery hair, she goes with a rusty-red lip colour that highlights her beautiful smile. This lip colour compliments all natural hair colours, and most skin tones.
This is a lip-centred makeup look, so if you want to try it out, keep it light with eyes like Jessica. She went with a light nude shade that looks almost bare but helps drive attention back to her million dollar smile.
Ethereal beauty. If you think that beauty fades with age, you cannot be more wrong. Andie MacDowell embraced her greys and wrinkles in all their glory. With intensely kohled eyes and coral blushed cheeks, Andies paired a bright pop of colour to her lips. She proves that no matter what, you can’t go wrong with your favourite red lipstick.
It doesn’t matter if you have a Cannes invitation or not, try these makeup looks at home for any suitable event (just dressing up at home to kill the blues also counts).
