Drama Alert! 5 Reasons We Think Bridgerton 2 Is Going To Be Better Than Season One

The first season of Bridgerton released in December last year and it was the only thing everyone was talking about during the initial few months of 2021. We were hooked to the show, all thanks to Duke of Hastings’ (Regé-Jean Page) charming looks and his sizzling chemistry with Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor).

Well, we were disappointed to learn that the on-screen Duke would not be a part of the second season, but we had other reasons to be thrilled. The major one being the fact that the new sequel will focus on the love story of Anthony Bridgerton. Well, guess what? It’s going to be one hell of a romantic saga and we have proof!

Netflix dropped the first clip of Bridgerton 2 during their Tudum event recently and OMG, it’s hella amazing! Take a look:

This is so intense! Here is everything we are loving about the first look and all the reasons why the upcoming season is going to be exciting AF:

Suck It, Anthony!

Alright, I’m just going to go ahead and say it—I hated Anthony in the first season. He was sexist, sabotaged his sister’s love life, did not respect his girlfriend, didn’t take up responsibilities and the list goes on. So, for obvious reasons, the fact that the upcoming season will revolve around such an unlikable character did not excite a lot of us. But, that changes now because he has apparently met his match.

Simone Ashley will play the role of Kate Sharma who will remind the Bridgerton prince that the world doesn’t revolve around him and thank god for that. We loved the way she slammed him in the video for assuming that women were dying to marry him and the look on his face? Priceless! It seems that we just found a reason to be excited about Anthony’s personal life and it’s Kate.

The Indian Connect

Instagram

We Indians have a special reason to love Bridgerton now because the creative team of the show has decided that Kate’s family will be of Indian descent. The role of Kate’s younger sister, Edwina, will be played by actress Charithra Chandran, a British Indian actor based in London. While talking about her character, she said to a leading international daily, “I couldn’t believe that someone who looked like me could be in those outfits and be in a show like that.”

The Duke’s Cameo

Instagram

Yes, yes, yes!! Page might make a cameo in season 2 and we cannot keep calm! While talking to an international media house about his appearance in the sequel, the actor said, “I couldn’t possibly tell you! Isn’t there something wonderful about being surprised by what you weren’t suspecting?”

The Sizzling Chemistry

Simon and Daphne’s sizzling chemistry was one of the major reasons why we were hooked to the Regency-era drama. While their love story is irreplaceable, we already have high hopes for Anthony and Kate. The video clip gave us major Pride & Prejudice vibes and we expect Anthony and Kate to work really hard to make their relationship work. But, we cannot deny that there’s something very intense about their chemistry and TBH, we are already excited to see more of it.

Sippin’ Hot Tea With Lady Whistledown

Instagram

The first season of the show didn’t end at any cliffhangers, but it surely made a huge revelation by disclosing the identity of Lady Whistledown. She’s none other than *spoiler alert* Penelope Featherington. Well, that single piece of information on the show changes everything. We know that the infamous gossip column holds a strong power in society and how Pen decides to use it next is going to be a major twist. More importantly, will her secret remain safe in season 2 as well? We cannot wait to find out.

The release date of Bridgerton 2 has not been announced as of now, but we can wait to binge-watch it in one go!
