Ah, the quest for the perfect wedding lehenga—an odyssey filled with intricate embroidery, shimmering sequins, and a kaleidoscope of colours. Imagine the bride-to-be, with her heart set on finding that one lehenga that not only mirrors her dreams but also embodies her cultural essence. It’s a journey that involves navigating bustling markets, endless consultations with designers, and the delicate balance between tradition and modernity. While we only see the finished product, the bride understands the struggle that went into it, and one such bride has recently shared hers!
Pria Singh, who had the dreamiest wedding in Bali in July of this year, took to her Instagram stories to share her journey of finding the perfect wedding outfit. For her special day, she wore a stunning crimson red lehenga adorned with floral work. Amidst the dazzle of the final product, only Pria knows the secret tale woven into every seam, bead, and fold of her wedding attire. It’s her silent struggle that remains hidden beneath layers of silk and chiffon.
Sharing her journey, Pria wrote, “I always knew I wanted to wear something which is red on red. So, my top two priorities with my wedding lehenga were a red monotone look with flowers and a lightweight. I have seen brides struggle during their pheras so this was also on my checklist.” While Pria knew exactly what she wanted, it took her months to find the right lehenga! In fact, she even ended up crying in a store since she wasn’t getting what she wanted. She said, “Finding the perfect lehenga is literally the most tedious process. TBH, more than finding a good guy.”
The bride went to Shahpur Jat, which is an urban village located near Hauz Khas in the South Delhi district. The place is a sum of narrow lanes and literally takes ages to explore. However, Pria explored almost every lane, and it still went in vain. But the best part? Her fiance, Gaurav, was her partner in every expedition and was helping keep his bride sane amidst the hustle and bustle!
Pria’s fiance actually turned out to be her knight in shining armour, as he was the one who spotted her D-day lehenga! Pria found the outfit of her dreams at the bridal couture store, Shiva Jangra. While the original lehenga came in a dull blue shade, Pria got it customised for herself in red, and damn, did it turn out great!
We love how Pria broke all the stereotypes by actually taking her partner shopping with her and making him a part of his journey! She wrote, “Usually girls keep their wedding outfits a secret for their fiance, but my outfit was a total surprise for my family and friends.”
The journey to that picture-perfect wedding outfit is a personal voyage known only to Pria, transforming her into not just a bride, but a resilient protagonist who turned her sartorial dreams into reality!
