Even though a year has gone by since Sridevi passed away, she will forever live in our hearts. On August 13, her birth anniversary, Madame Tussauds in Singapore had announced that they would be launching a wax statue of the legendary Bollywood actress. Today, Sridevi’s statue was unveiled by her husband, Boney Kapoor, and her two daughters, Khushi and Janhvi. Here, take a look!
If you recall, the statue is an exact replica of her iconic look from her hit song ‘Hawa Hawai’ from Mr. India. In her honour, the famous museum collected all the messages, notes and letters written by her fans from around the world and displayed them on a tribute wall. It was indeed an emotional moment for her entire family. In the picture below, Boney can also be seen writing a note.
Twenty talented artists were entrusted with the job of making this statue. They worked with Sridevi’s family for about five months so they could learn to replicate and perfect her features, makeup, facial expressions, jewellery and outfit. Lizzie Parkinson, a costumier from the Merlin Magic Making team in the UK, said, “It was a privilege to recreate a legendary star in close collaboration with her family. Recreating Sridevi’s outfit was particularly challenging. Her crown, cuffs, earrings and dress brooch were 3D-printed, and went through numerous tests to achieve the level of detail needed.” Boney even posted a tiny clip of the making two days ago.

In the last one year, Janhvi has been very vocal about her feelings and how close she was to her mom. In an Instagram post, she has written about how she knows that her mother is always looking out for her and protecting her from pain and sadness.
Sridevi passed away in Dubai due to accidental drowning in the bathtub. The news left her whole family shattered and the funeral was attended by thousands of grieving fans, Bollywood actors and relatives.
