5 Minimal Mehendi Designs For The Modern Bride-To-Be

5 Minimal Mehendi Designs For The Modern Bride-To-Be

In the glittering world of Bollywood, where opulence usually takes precedence over aesthetics, there has been a noticeable shift when it comes to wedding trends. A-list wedding ceremonies are becoming smaller, lenghas are becoming lighter and even mehendi is becoming more minimal.

Gone are the days when Bollywood brides needed intricate, sprawling designs; today’s brides are opting for simpler, more refined patterns that speak of a quieter luxury. And these minimal designs while less elaborate, are equally captivating, proving that sometimes less truly is more.

Let’s Start With Parineeti Chopra

I’m sure your feed, just like mine is flooded with pictures of Ragneeti, so I’ll keep this brief. While Parineeti looked absolutely resplendent in her Manish Malhotra fit, her makeup and minimalistic dangling, chandelier mehendi painted a more subtle picture of how much thought had gone into the entire ensemble.

Alia’s Mandalas

While Alia’s ensemble was the pretty in-pink dream we’ve all had, her minimalistic mandala mehendi design was one that’ll stay in my books for days to come. Curated by Mumbai-based celeb artist, Jyoti Chedda, the whole design came together to create a truly unforgettable look.

Anushka Sharma’s Negative Spaces

When Anushka got married in 2017, her London-based mehendi artist Tasneem Kamruddin said in a Popxo interview, “The mehendi I did for Anushka had intricate details with a simple look. There was no theme as such. Anushka briefed me before I started and she didn’t want any heavy design. Her mehendi had small flowers, paisley, leaves and small strokes with dots, designs with a simple look.”

Kiara Advani’s Elegant Lattice

Just to show how ahead of the trend Kiara Advani has always been, I wanted to include her mehendi design as well. One of my personal favs, the Kabir Singh star went for a simple mandala in the centre of her palm, with elegant lattice detailing on her fingers to complete the look.

Patralekhaa’s Atla Look

When Patralekhaa got married to Rajkumar Rao after 11 years of knowing each other (a bolly match made in heaven) her makeup was an ode to her Bengali heritage. Instead of the usual mehendi, her stunning wedding look consisted of white chandan art on her forehead and alta on her hands.

As epitomized by these celebrities, Bollywood’s current wedding trend showcases that true luxury lies in the details, the thoughtfulness, and the personal touch, rather than just the grandiosity. It’s a refreshing reminder that in the vast world of glamour and glitz, there’s always an appreciation for simplicity.
