It seems like a pretty simple funda in Bollywood – if something does well, you make different versions of it. Yes, sequels are the new Bollywood frenzy and while some are really good ones, others are mere movie names with a completely different plot, storyline or cast. And that makes us wonder if making a sequel was actually necessary.
14 Bollywood Sequels That Could Have Really Been Avoided!

1. Housefull 4

The Housefull brand has not one, but four sequels to its credit. While the first Housefull movie was bearable, the rest have been a huge disappointment. We can only hope that they don’t throw a fifth one at us now!
2. Rock On 2
Rock On was a big hit. I can say this because I was truly inspired by this movie. But they could’ve left it at that, no? Rock On 2 was absolutely unnecessary and no match to the first one. Even the music was a huge letdown.
3. Dabangg 2 (and now 3)
Bhai! Bhai! Bhai! Bhai could have actually left it at ‘tere mast mast do nain’ but bhai maante nahi and so made did not two, but three versions of the same story. Yup, Dabbang 3 is all set to release on 20th December 2019. So, are you ready?
4. Welcome Back
The movie Welcome released in 2007 and while it was decent, the sequel that came out in 2015 was a complete disaster.
5. Krrish 3

A movie that introduced us to the world of Aliens, Krrish 3 was a big disappointment to people who idolised Krrish, the Indian superhero. Rehne dete na!
6. Student Of The Year 2
Speaking of disappointment, SOTY 2’s storyline was flat and after the amazing actors that SOTY 1 gave us, the sequel had a lot to match up to.
7. Race 3
I think bhai disasters should be a constant now. While the first one was a huge hit, the second was not so bad. Third, however, was a terrible idea that should’ve totally been avoided. Let’s hope they don’t ruin it further with a fourth movie.
8. Great Grand Masti

Not only was this movie very problematic, but it was also a complete waste of time. A horror adult comedy film which was the third instalment after Masti and Grand Masti was a complete waste of time and money.
9. Kya Kool Hai Hum 3
Not once but thrice were we tortured with Kya Kool Hai Hum, Kya Super Kool Hai Hum and then Kya Kool Hai Hum 3. Why Ekta, why?
10. Double Dhamaal
Dhamaal was one of the best comedy movies that I saw. The makers could have simply left it there. They didn’t, of course. They came up with Double Dhamaal which was double bad. Does that make sense? No? The movie didn’t either.
11. Dhoom 3
Dhoom and Dhoom 2 were next level movies that proved that Bollywood has truly arrived. But then came the third sequel and ruined it for us.
12. Golmaal Again
Another movie series that seemed never-ending! After the laugh riot that Golmaal and Golmaal Returns was, Golmaal Again kinda fell flat.
13. Tum Bin 2
Tum Bin 2 was not really a sequel. It had a completely different storyline from the original movie that was applauded for its screenplay, dialogues and direction. The second production seemed pretty lifeless as compared to the first.
14. Raaz 3
Do you know what’s pushing things? Making a movie like Raaz 3. While the first movie was decent, the second one received mixed reviews and the third one was a disaster in big, bold letters.
