The thing with Bollywood is that we all have our opinions. Some are more controversial than the rest. But that’s the case with all art in general. Art is subjective. Our judgment of it also stems from our lens of experiences, background, philosophy of life, personal tastes, and whatnot.
So, oftentimes, you’d find yourself with an opinion that can scandalise your friends. You may have a ‘hot-take’ that could be a shocker against the larger public perception. But as if the onset of contrary viewpoints has ever prevented the brave beings on X from voicing their opinion. Isn’t it why we love and hate X (previously Twitter) at the same time?
Many X users are offering their hot takes on Bollywood, and some of them, we can’t help but agree with. Take a look:
someone once said "bollywood didn't make SRK famous but, SRK made bollywood famous" and i see no lies. https://t.co/1iAe7FcYV4

The Indian audience, as of now, fails to draw a line b/w reel & real. Everything they see their favourite actors doing they consider right. Thus movies like Animal & Kabir Singh should NOT exist till the audience consuming it realize these behaviours are NOT meant to be followed https://t.co/Khiv8JIORw

people need to do roles suited to their age. 60 year old male stars romancing 20 year old female stars is lowkey creepy https://t.co/txPZX31dGE

Abhishek Bachchan is a brilliant actor and it's not his fault that he only gets compared to his father and not to his peers https://t.co/ec8wPiFgqk

Extreme misogyny and for the most 'unproblematic movies' the characters are heavily appreciated for the barest minimum which has also significantly influenced our society

Aged actors need to start taking up roles appropriate for their age and stop romancing young girls who have just debuted or are a decade or two younger than them. https://t.co/RBOx3PP6AW

IMO nepotism debate is pointless. Bollywood relies on audience preferences for survival. Star Kids is a safe bet for the producer bcz of you (audience). No wonder, Archies is getting so much attention and Tripti is being recognized now even after Laila Majnu, Bulbbul and Qala https://t.co/vJmElKUs3w

i look forward to the day when bollywood tries to portray people from across the border as actual human beings with real emotions and vulnerability rather than just stereotypical caricature we have been shown over these years. https://t.co/lxAUjmYGCy

katrina is the most evolved and improved actor of her time. she worked hard on every attribute that is necessary for a star (acting, dancing, stunts etc) and audience have accepted and appreciated her work. those who refuse to see it are mostly blinded by biases or prejudices. https://t.co/lrewczVJcY

Hrithik Roshan is the only perfectionist actor in Bollywood. This guy has got perfection in everything be it Acting, Dance, Style, Personality, Aura, Stardom, Screen presence and Huge Box Office Records. He is best in bollywood and shouldn't be compared with any of the Stars. https://t.co/vdCVlRFo6j

Now that we’re on it, it’s worth noting that art and entertainment aren’t mutually exclusive, now more than ever. Art imitates life, and life imitates art. Especially today, in a polarising world like ours. Cinema undoubtedly has social implications. It does not exist in standalone spaces. It has consequences beyond what the world would like to believe.
