The buzz for the 76th Cannes Film Festival is in full swing, and we’re excited. Apart from celebrating cinematic art on a global stage, the red carpet has also given us some iconic fashion moments. And when it comes to Bollywood celebrities, names like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor, and Deepika Padukone are regular to grace the event. But there are a lot of other B-town celebs who walked the Cannes red carpet. And we bet you didn’t know about them! Scroll down to see the list:
Ameesha Patel
Ameesha Patel, who pretty much ruled over Bollywood in the 90s, walked the red carpet at the 66th Cannes Film Festival. The Gadar actress graced the event for her upcoming movie Shortcut Romeo and attended the screening of her movie All Is Lost. Ameesha relied on the ace designer Manish Malhotra and flaunted one of their custom-mad anarkali lehengas.
Puja Gupta
Miss India Universe 2007 and actor, Puja Gupta turned heads at the 66th Cannes Film Festival. She made an appearance alongside co-actor Ameesha Patel and director Susi Ganesh for her film, Shortcut Romeo. The diva donned a dusty-blush pink coloured gown by Gauri and Nainika.
Minissha Lamba
Minissha Lamba’s debut at the 64th Cannes Festival was a breath of fresh air. The diva was invited to attend the premiere of Woody Allen‘s Midnight in Paris. She received the loudest cheers as she walked the coveted carpet in a Gauri and Nainika creation, but sadly, got mistaken for Aishwarya Rai by the paps. Sharing her first-hand experience at Cannes, the Bachna Ae Haseeno actress shared, “I had fantastic food and great conversation with a bunch of new people I met there. At 11.45 pm I headed to the hottest party in town — the film’s after party, by the beach. I got loads of compliments for the Gauri n Nainika gown I wore. But I also had a lot of people tripping over the trail of the dress.”
Saif Ali Khan
Not a lot of people know, but the Nawab of Pataudi made his debut at the 64th edition of the Festival De Cannes in 2011. Saif walked the red carpet as he represented the global luxury brand, Chivas Regal. But things went south when Saif went unnoticed at the French Rivera by the Western media. Reportedly, no announcement was made for his arrival at the festival.
Karan Johar
While KJo is a household name for us desi peeps, his appearance at the Cannes Circa 2013 went unnoticed. The filmmaker appeared alongside Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar, and Dibakar Banerjee for the screening of their film Bombay Talkies.
Arjun Rampal
Arjun Rampal and his ex-wife Mehr Jessia walked the Cannes red carpet in 2012, owing to Arjun being the brand ambassador of the global luxury brand Chivas Regal. While a lot of tinsel town celebs made a fashion disaster at Cannes that year, Arjun and Mehr nailed their ensembles.
Kalki Koelchin
Kalki Koelchin made her Cannes debut at its 65th edition alongside her ex-husband Anurag Kashyap. She went to cheer for Anurag and his Gangs of Wasseypur team. The movie made a lot of noise at the 65th Cannes Film Festival and its world premiere of the film received a full house. However, the Daayan actress was criticised for making a fashion faux pas with her slinky fluid Dior gown.
Preity Zinta
Back in 2006, Preity made her red carpet debut at the 59th Cannes Festival and made heads turn with her sartorial fashion choices. She was invited to attend the premiere of ‘The Wind That Shakes The Barley‘ and ‘Paris, Je T’aime’. Cut to 2013, Preity made a comeback at the French Rivera as the brand ambassador of the luxury watch brand, Chopard.
Can’t wait to see how all the Bollywood stars set the Cannes 2023 red carpet on fire!
