Body Positivity, Mental Health & Complex Relationships: 5 Reasons Why Masaba Masaba 2 Is Relatable AF

In 2020, the reel and real life mother-daughter duo Masaba Gupta and Neena Gupta blessed our screens with a refreshing tale that was all about discovering themselves. And after a nail-biting wait, they’re back again with a new chapter and it’s not disappointing in the least! Masaba Masaba Season 2 is a perfect bite-sized series, which is an ode to reinvention in possibly the best way.

This easy-breezy watch is a visual delight that will make you feel happy, sad and everything else in between. And whether you’re part of the baby boomer clan, or proudly claim to be the millennial/gen-Z generation, there’s something in this show for everyone. So without further ado, here are five reasons that makes this show relatable AF!

Trying Hella Hard To Stay Relevant

Well, who’s not on the same boat? In a world full of tweets, likes, and loud opinions, everyone’s looking for ways to stay in the limelight. Masaba is no different from the rest of us. She tries real hard to convince herself and the world that her brand is still cool and edgy. She ventures into unknown professional paths and takes decisions that could prove to be risky. Neena ji, too, has the same plight and NGL, we could totally sympathise with them.

The Oh-So-Complicated Mom & Daughter Relationship

NGL fam, this one hit home HARD! While we all love our mums to death, sometimes they totally get on our nerves. We’re sure everyone can relate to Masaba when she tells her mother that she needed her mom in a bad situation and not a lecture. And in another instance, when she gets adorably annoyed with her mum for getting too invasive into her love life. Masaba, we know exactly what you’re talking about!

Addressing Issues & How

Yes, this series is a light-hearted, fictionalised account of Masaba and Neena, but it does get very real. It’s laudable that the writers didn’t shy away from hard-hitting issues and we’re so glad that they treated them with utter sensitivity. Talking about mental health, body insecurities, ageism, and how women can handle both career and family, this show deals with everything! Besides this, the seven-part series also addresses unconventional ways of having a child and experiencing motherhood. TBH, we were absolutely blown away with its awe-inspiring take.

Tangled Love Story

While the triangle love story may seem rehashed, it does have an exciting end. Masaba comes into her own as the story evolves and makes no mistakes. This girl knows exactly what she’s doing! Without revealing too much, Masaba finds the man of her dreams but not before she gives a piece of her mind to someone who needed to hear it. We found ourselves cheering hard for our Ms. ‘not-so hot mess’ through the entire last episode.

Let’s Talk About Sex Baby

Besides how the romantic relationships unfold in the series, Masaba Masaba 2 also unabashedly talks about sex and sexual desires. We still can’t get over how Masaba asked her mum to check her hormones because she seemed a little “thirsty”. And we totally LOLed when Masaba’s BFF Gia enlightened Masaba about PQs (IYKYK). Also, how can we forget when Neena reminded everyone that old people have sex too! Trust us fam, the show is one hell of a laughter ride.

Netflix

Well, we’re still recovering from our recent binge of this dhamakedar show. Masaba Masaba Season 2 defs made it into our hearts and we can’t wait to rewatch the show already!
