Have you been feeling more overwhelmed and stressed out lately? Well, taking out some time for yourself in the day is really important to feel more centred. One of the rituals that help me out at the end of a long day is giving myself a facial massage. It’s soothing, it improves the blood circulation in my skin and gives me a glow.
We spoke to Vibhuti Arora, founder of House Of Beauty India and face yoga practitioner to help us understand what exercises would be beginner-friendly and how can you ease yourself into this ritual. So, keep on scrolling to see what she said.
What Are The Benefits Of Facial Workouts?
“We divide facial workouts into three to four segments. Firstly, they help with lymphatic drainage. We all wake up with puffiness and have a layer of toxins under our skin that needs elimination. As we grow older these become even more stubborn and get accumulated in parts of our face causing stiffness and uneven skin tone”, says Vibhuti.
Another part of facial workouts is corrective workouts that are for skin issues like fine lines, wrinkles, dark spots, etc. Then, they also help with sculpting the face if you want to get those high cheekbones or chiselled jawline. Finally, comes the maintenance part where you do facial yoga for things like lifting and toning.
How Often Should We Do These Workouts?
Vibhuti explains that these twenty to thirty-minute workouts are taxing on your skin muscles as well so do them six days a week. Give yourself a day’s rest in the middle so that your muscles can rejuvenate. However, if you’re doing a quick one-minute facial massage then you can do it every day.
Which Face Tools Should Beginners Invest In?
“The three tools that I would want a person between the age of 16-35 to invest in would be a jade roller, a gua sha if you’re looking to sculpt your cheekbones otherwise it can be skipped. A collagen roller because it boosts the collagen synthesis of your face and helps with making the lips and skin look plump and pretty. Lastly, since we all our stuck to our screens so much, an ice globe or an ice roller would do wonders”, explains Vibhuti.
Start a facial massage on freshly cleansed skin and by rubbing some facial oil between your palms to warm and activate the product. You can use almond oil, tea tree, and avocado oil or any one that works well for your skin type.

If you’re using a facial tool then one thing to note is to disinfect your tools every time you use them. This can be done with a sanitising spray or even by rinsing it with soap and water. And a precaution for people with acne-prone skin, just reduces the pressure on an active pimple because you don’t want to burst it.
Happy massaging!
