They say that marriages are made in heaven… And sometimes, you come across a couple who makes you believe in those words. I recently had the pleasure of attending the wedding of Nakul Bajaj and Nikita Gupta. Nakul Bajaj is the founder and CEO of Darveys, an online portal for everything luxury. His bride, Nikita Gupta is the Co-Founder and Creative Director at Noor, a decor company. The wedding of this power couple was nothing less than a dream.
The couple booked an entire island in the Maldives for the celebrations. Yes, you read that right!
Situated in the exotic Ra Atoll, the Furaveri Island Resort & Spa was breathtaking at the very first sight. A short 45-minute ferry ride from the Male Airport brought the guests to the island where we were greeted by lush greenery, white sands and crystal clear water.
“The Maldives is amazing of course, but the point of having a wedding there was to have an entire island to ourselves and our guests,” shared Nakul. He further added that he wanted both his and Nikita’s grandparents to visit the Maldives and that’s how they finalised the location.
The festivities kicked off with the engagement ceremony at the Raiyvilla Restaurant. The bride-to-be chose a signature Gaurav Gupta gown for the occasion while the groom looked dapper in a Rahul Gandhi and Rohit Khanna creation. Infinite Memories were the official photographers of the wedding.
Day 2 of #ANakForNik began with the Mehendi ceremony at the Udhares Bar at Furaveri.
To make sure the natural beauty of the island got the attention it deserved, the couple chose to go with minimal decor. The space had signboards and drapes in pastel shades working their magic. The decor and planning obviously, was taken care of by Noor. Nikita looked dreamy in a white Tamanna Punjabi Kapoor ensemble that she paired with floral jewellery. MUA Jitin Rathore was behind Nikita’s flawless makeup looks for all the functions.
In case you were wondering, the duo even has the cutest love story. “I went to St. Columbas and Nikita went to Convent of Jesus and Mary and both schools are divided by just a wall. I got to meet her the first time through my sister who also went to CJM and was Nikita’s junior,” shared the groom.
The afternoon Mehendi soiree was followed by the Sangeet night which was more like a Bollywood awards function! Nikita performed on Piya Tose Naina Lage Re while Nakul burned the dancefloor with his moves on Batameez Dil. The groom’s sister, Radhika, founder of Self Stitch grooved to the 90s hit number Waha Waha Ram Ji.
What I loved most was the Haldi and Sainth ceremony the next day
A minimalistic setup by the beachside Jaafaeiy Restaurant, a light drizzle and a happy vibe all around made this otherwise simple ceremony an affair to remember. The bride and her girls posed away at the jhulla by the beach while the groom’s boys had a crazy time making sure Nakul was fully dipped in haldi!
And then there was the baraat on a yacht. I have to say, I’ve never seen anything like that! A fun and unique concept you must bookmark if you’re planning on getting married on the beach.
The couple opted for sundowner pheras and as I made my way to the beachside mandap, my jaw literally dropped at the gorgeousness of it all. A beautiful, elegant setup with pink drapes, a chandelier and pink flowers looked mesmerizing against the orange cast of the setting sun.
For their wedding day, Nikita & Nakul decided to go the royal way
For the outfits, the bride picked Om Parkash Jawahar Lal for the big day and the groom went with Rohit Bal couture. When asked about his most memorable moment from the wedding, Nakul was quick to answer, “When she walked down the aisle, I told her that I hope I make her happy. She replied saying that I make her feel like the happiest girl each and every time. Nothing gives me more happiness than a smile on her face and hearing that just made it complete.”
