Let’s face it when it comes to dating advice most of us turn to our friends. But TBH, they are mostly as clueless as. us. So whom do you reach out to? What can be the perfect solution in this scenario? Getting your parents involved! Now, I know the thought of letting our parents pick a date for us is hard to comprehend but a new dating reality show Datebaazi is doing just that.
So, forget everything you know about dating because I am here to advocate the idea of arranged dating. After binging the entire season of Datebaazi in a day, the only thing I can say for sure is you can’t fool the parents ‘coz they are the OGs.
BDSM & Mom’s Discussion
What is the most awkward topic you can discuss with your mom? For most of us, it is our sex lives. So, what happened when a contestant’s mom on Datebaazi got to know about the BDSM lifestyle. Well, it was the most bizarre conversation I have ever witnessed. NGL, after hearing mom’s take on this kinky lifestyle, I am sure of one thing our parents know more than what they let on. After all what else she did she mean by, “Aur khul ke batao?” Ahem, ahem, very subtle!
Dad Knows The Best
Daddy’s girl phrase found a new meaning in Datebaazi. When 20-year-old Arya Kale set out to find love, her parents were quick to pick the right guy in an instant. From recognising red flags in a guy to picking the perfect date for their daughter, it was a wholesome episode. However, for me, the best moment was watching Arya’s mom probe into the potential dates’ sex life.
Mom Has No Time For Slackers
If you think seeking a girl’s dad’s permission for a date is tough, try talking to a tiger mom. Kashish Gumber’s mom teamed up with Uorfi Javed and delivered some unfiltered roasting of the prospects. When a guy revealed that he hooked up with his friend’s ex-girlfriend, she didn’t hold back from bashing him for breaking the bro code and making up stories to cover his track. That was the goddamn moment that took the cake for me in this season.
Same-Sex Dating? No Problem
My personal favourite bit from the series was watching participant Abhishek Jha’s uncle and father pick the date for him. These two were the most open-minded duos on the show. They even added that they won’t mind if Abhishek decides to date a man. Parents surely can surprise us with their thoughts at times. Right, folks?
“Bahu Nahi, Date Dhundh Rahi Hun!”
Looking for some meaningful dating tips? Then you must turn to participant Sidharth Manoj’s mom. The mum darling not only picked the perfect match for her son, but she also dropped an important tip about dating. “I am looking for a date for my son, not a daughter-in-law” and that was the mic-drop moment I was waiting for.
If you want to tickle your funny bone, then I suggest watching Datebaazi. It might be a little cheesy, but occasional cheesiness never hurt anyone.
