Gone are the days when brides quietly participated in all the wedding rituals irrespective of the blatant sexism and problematic ideologies behind them. The modern-day bride questions it and refuses to be ‘given away’ as an object. She makes sure that the message is loud and clear on the wedding day itself.
And we just came across a bride, who fits the bill pretty well. Simran Bathija recently tied the knot in a vibrant day ceremony and we are seriously blown away with her unique style. Here’s everything that we love about this modern bride:
Baraati Bride? That’s One Way To Do It
Done with the sexist idea of the girl’s family welcoming the guy’s family, Simran decided to have her own baraat and a pretty cool one for that. Dressed in her glorious Sabyasachi, the bride boarded a flaming red, convertible car to reach the wedding venue. Her gold lehenga provided a glorious contrast to the vintage car and we are in love with this bride for her fun spirit and the taste for all things off-beat.
That Lehenga Though!
From the plunge neck blouse to the floral organza dupatta, while the designer’s signature aesthetics can be easily spotted on the beautiful outfit, it is the unique hue that sets it apart. It is not your everyday gold lehenga. The beige clearly rules the palette here and there is just something about the understated yet impactful look that has us hooked.
Simran stuck to her simple albeit minimal aesthetic in the jewellery department as well and opted for a simple, gold necklace with uncut ruby details. She paired it with traditional jhumkis and a beautiful tikka that you might want to bookmark in case you have a thing for statement bridal picks.
Simran ditched the regular bun for soft, defined curls that were left loose and there is just no missing out on the blooming roses adorning her hair! Again, she went against the tide when it came to her bridal makeup and ditched the trending nudes for a pop of cherry on her lips and a bronze, smokey eye. Here’s how you can recreate the look:
Now, isn’t this bride looking absolutely refreshing. Cannot wait for more brides to question sexist traditions and show ’em how it’s done!
