10 Things In ‘Avengers: Endgame’ You’ll Only Notice If You Watch It Once More

Avengers: Endgame has finally come but it can never be gone from our hearts and heads. Sitting through the closing credits felt like the end of an era. But are you sure you didn’t miss a single thing in this three hours, two minutes emotional hell? Here are 10 things you may have missed while watching the film for the first time.

1. Clint calls his daughter ‘Hawkeye’ in the opening scene when he’s teaching her how to properly stand while taking a shot.

Hinting that something on (future) Hawkeye is coming down the line.

2. Tony Stark says in his recording for Pepper Potts that they’ve been in space for 21 days before correcting himself and saying 22 days.

That’s his way of addressing that ‘Avengers: Endgame’ is the 22nd movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

3. Wonder how Captain Marvel was able to find Tony Stark in space so easily? Here’s a video released by Marvel that connects the dots.

We wonder why they didn’t show this in the movie though.

4. After Thor kills Thanos and Rocket asks him what he just did, Thor’s reply “I went for the head” has an Infinity War connection.

Remember when in Avengers: Infinity War Thor strikes the axe in Thanos’ chest and Thanos replies saying he should have gone for his head? Well, there you go. Guilt-ridden, when Thor got a chance at doing it again, he took the swing.

5. Did you notice who the OG Jarvis is?

When Tony bids farewell to his father, Howard Stark, in 1970, he gets in a car. The name of Howard’s driver is Jarvis. That’s where Tony got the name for his artificial intelligence system.

6. That goosebumps moment when Spider-man says to the A.I. system in his suit, “Activate Instant Kill”

In Spider-Man: Homecoming, Peter Parker is chasing the bad guys at a gas station when in a brief chat with his A.I. system installed in his new suit by Tony Stark, he finds out that the suit has an ‘instant kill’ mode. That knowledge came in handy this time.

7. Who is the random guy standing at Tony’s funeral? The answer may surprise you.

We all noticed a young man standing by himself in the funeral scene. While we were busy naming who all attended the funeral, most of us couldn’t place him in particular. *Throwback to Iron Man 3* Remember the boy who helps Tony in the film by letting his suit charge in his garage, makes him a sandwich, gives him his girly wrist watch and talks him through his anxiety attacks? That’s him – Harley Keener. That’s our ‘kid’.

8. Sad about no post-credits scene? Well, there was one and a really strong one while at it.

While Endgame didn’t have a post-credit scene in the conventional sense, it did have a small tribute to Iron Man. Listen closely and you’ll hear a small sound. It distinctly sounds like the sound of metal hitting metal. That’s the sound of Tony Stark building his first Iron Man suit in the cave when he was captured by terrorists in 2008. Here come the tears, again.

9. Hawkeye’s last born’s name is a tribute to Natasha and Pietro (Quicksilver) who gave up their life for Clint.

The movie opens to the scene of Clint enjoying family time (while the Infinity War was taking place). We don’t get name drops for his children other than one: Nathaniel Pietro Barton. He’s the kid his wife was pregnant with in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Apparently, he is named after both Black Widow (Natasha, who he had a close relationship with) and Quicksilver (Pietro Maximoff, who saved his life by taking the bullet). It is all the more tragic because now his son honours two people who sacrificed themselves for him.

10. Steve Rogers and Bucky’s parting words have been said before in Captain America: The First Avenger.

Right before Captain America goes to return the infinity stones back to their original timelines, he says his farewell to his old friend Bucky (The Winter Soldier) and Sam (Falcon). The dialogue between Bucky and Steve goes like this,

Steve: Don’t do anything stupid while I’m gone.

Bucky: How can I? You’re taking all the stupid with you.

These words are, in fact, a role reversal between the two that they shared in Captain America: The First Avenger before Steve got the serum that made him Captain America. In that scene, they’re at a carnival hosted by Howard Stark and Bucky is just about to leave with his date leaving Steve alone.

How many of these did you notice the first time ’round?
