We all love our mothers and can’t possibly imagine our lives without them. But the hard truth is that for a lot of us, living without them is a reality.
Actor Arjun Kapoor lost his mother Mona Shourie Kapoor, Boney Kapoor’s first wife, to cancer in 2012. Arjun was 26 years old and yet to make his Bollywood debut when she passed away. The Namaste England actor has spoken about how much he loves and misses his mother not just on social media but also on numerous talk shows.
On his mother’s death anniversary on March 25, he took to Instagram to share a childhood picture with his mom which was accompanied by a heartfelt post that left us all teary eyed. He wrote, “You were my smile & I hope wherever you are I make you smile still… it’s been 7 years since you left us & all your son is asking you is come back na, please.”
Yesterday, on Mother’s Day, Arjun took to his Instagram feed to share a video talking about how people are blessed to have their mothers. He said, “I want to take this opportunity to wish all ladies out there, all the women out there, all the girls out there a very Happy Mother’s Day and to all the men who also behave like mothers when they need to with their kids, have to behave and to all single parents out there who are taking care of their kids, a very happy Mother’s Day!”

Arjun has always been very attached to his mother. Despite his strained relationship with his father Bony Kapoor and his family, he was there for Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor after their mother Sridevi passed away. He said, “I am happy that I followed my instinct. I have no regrets. But I would never wish such a thing to happen to even my worst enemy. I wish it hadn’t come to that thing for us to react towards each other. Even my mom would have wanted it this way, and not that I was doing a heroic act.. My mom loved my father; she would have wanted me to be around my father in that moment of crisis, she would have wanted his near and dear ones to be near him. I know how it feels. I have seen it myself.”
On Mother’s Day, it is also important to acknowledge the many different mother-child dynamics that exist. More love and power to you, Arjun.
