It’s Meezaan Jaffrey and Navya Naveli Nanda, you guys! Ever since a picture of the two chilling together went viral last year, there have been speculations suggesting something is brewing between the pair. From commenting lovey-dovey emojis on one another’s pictures to being each other’s biggest cheerleaders, these two seem smitten by each other. That’s not all, earlier this year on a chat show, Meezaan was asked who he would kill, marry and hook up with between Nayva, Sara Ali Khan and Ananya Panday. To which the actor replied that he would hook up with Sara, kill Ananya and marry Navya.
Rumour mills have also been abuzz with the reports of the couple going strong for years now. However, Meezaan and Navya have always refrained from labelling their relationship. But, it looks like the actor has finally opened up about his relationship status and equation with Amitabh Bachchan’s granddaughter.
In conversation with a leading daily, The Hungama 2 star said that the two have been good friends since their college days. He also revealed that these rumours have made things a tad bit awkward between them. Meezaan said, “Honestly, me and Navya are really close friends and I think because of me, her name has come up in a lot of places and that is unfair. It’s her private life. I don’t want to include any of her family.” He further added that it was unfair on part of interviewers to constantly ask about Navya.
The Malal actor explained how the entire matter was blown out of proportion and how it became awkward for him to enter the Bachchan house, Jalsa. He also shared how his parents had doubts about his relationship status. Meezaan said, “At that time, it was awkward for me to enter my own house. My parents were giving me looks. And they were like ‘what is this?’ and I was like ‘even I don’t know’
Meezaan revealed that he and Navya became friends because of his sister Alaviaa Jaffery. He said, “They both studied together in New York, plus, our family- hers and mine- are in movies. So we know each other.”
