The Ayurvedic Ritual Behind Anushka’s & Kareena’s Smile
Anushka was caught on camera with a broad smile during an IPL match because her hubby Virat blew kisses at her from the field. And while I’ll forever be a fan of these two lovebirds, I noticed something about Anushka other than her naturally radiant glow.
I’m obsessing over her million-dollar smile RN. It’s so important to have good oral hygiene and clean white teeth, and Anushka has the perfect hack for it. No wonder she’s always smiling and showing off her healthy teeth – she’s got an ayurvedic secret behind it and other celebs use the same trick too.
What Is Anushka’s Favourite Ayurvedic Hack?
Oil-pulling. In an Instagram post, Anushka shared that she loves following this Ayurvedic method to care for her teeth and she used to make her doggo do it too! Oil pulling is basically swishing a natural oil in your mouth to clear up bacteria and strengthen the teeth and gums.
In the post’s caption, Anushka said, “My morning ritual of Oil pulling in the company of my sweet-smoosh-doggo Dude 🐶! Oil pulling is an ancient Ayurvedic practice known as “kavala” or “gandusha”, a dental technique that involves swishing little oil in your mouth on an empty stomach for few minutes and then spitting it out. This action is excellent for dental hygiene & health and also draws out toxins in the body.”
Other Celebs Who Practice Oil-Pulling
Not just Anushka, even Kareena Kapoor swears by this ayurvedic home remedy. Bebo says it is a “great technique for detoxification.”
And to add to its popularity, this hack has even taken over the West. Hollywood stars like Gwyneth Paltrow and Miranda Kerr also use the oil-pulling technique for their pearly whites.
How & When To Try Oil-Pulling
It is best to try oil-pulling first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. It is also important to use this ayurvedic technique before brushing your teeth with toothpaste.
Take a tablespoon of natural oil such as coconut oil or almond oil and swirl it in your mouth for about 10 to 15 minutes. Make sure to swish the oil back and forth between your teeth. After the time’s up, spit out the oil and then rinse your mouth with a glass of water.
After oil pulling, you can proceed to brush your teeth as usual.
The Amala Earth Oil Pulling Mouth Swirl | Vanilla & Cinnamon Extract is a nature-infused product that’s great for oil pulling.
The Organic Harvest Extra Virgin Organic Coconut Oil: 100% Pure is my favourite, to follow Anushka’s ayurvedic hack.
I know I’m not sleeping on this hack that’s been passed down for ages and is Ayurveda-approved!
