A few weeks ago, Jasmin Bhasin’s mother contracted COVID-19 and needed hospitalisation. Her parents had a tough time finding a hospital bed in their city, Kota, Rajasthan. The actress was in Jammu with Aly Goni and his family when all of it happened and it broke her heart to see her parents struggling on their own. Sadly, the situation was even more difficult for her because she too had tested positive around the same time and was in isolation.
In a recent interview with a leading daily, Jas confirmed that she and Aly had contracted COVID while they were in Jammu. She said, “We tested positive a few days apart. That’s also the reason why I had to extend my stay in Jammu. We tried to stay happy, eat healthy, and didn’t let the negativity creep in. That’s how we dealt with it. Within a week, we tested negative. But yes, the virus makes you weak, and recovering from it is another process altogether.”
The couple did not share the information on social media as they wanted to avoid people’s unsolicited opinions and advice. Jasmin said, “The only person we need to listen to is our doctor and not others because the virus affects people differently. The first thing my doctor told me was, ‘Jasmin, don’t take undue stress.’ I listened to him, was on medication, and tried to stay positive during the lows.”
Not just Aly and Jas, the actor’s entire family was also infected by the virus. While talking about the same, he said, “All of us were in home isolation and fought the virus with the right attitude that this too shall pass.” Aly also admitted that the difficult phase brought him even closer to his loved ones. He added, “My bond with Jasmin was and is strong. We are caring towards each other and that is the basic premise of any relationship. I am a sensitive person and have always valued relationships. But I would admit that COVID-19 has taught me to value them even more. What matters at the end of the day is your family and loved ones.”
Shockingly, while Jas was fighting with the virus and worrying about her mother’s health, there were some social media users who were spewing hatred towards her. While talking about it, she said, “One day, I felt angry because my mother couldn’t find a hospital bed and posted about it on social media hoping to get some leads. Some people messaged me that I was a selfish child for being away from my mom at this time. I couldn’t tell them to not judge me, as even if I wanted to, I couldn’t be with her.”
It’s quite infuriating to see that people can be so insensitive even during such tough times. Every individual is facing their own battles and the least we can do is let go of our toxic judgements.
We’re glad that Jas and Aly are doing better now and hope for their complete recovery soon!
