WTH! Aly Goni Just Quit Twitter For This Disturbing Reason & It’s Making Us Furious AF

Just a few months ago, model Chrissy Teigen shocked everyone by announcing that she was quitting Twitter. She let go of the microblogging site due to constant negativity and shared the reason on her Instagram handle. She wrote, “The platform no longer serves me as positively as it does negatively, so with that I bid you adieu. I hate letting people down or upsetting people and I feel like I just did it over and over and over. Someone can’t read that they disappointed you in some way every single day, all day without physically absorbing that energy.”

NGL, Chrissy spoke our mind. No one should face such vehement trolling and it shouldn’t be done in the first place. But, our social media platforms have become a source of spewing hatred and unsolicited comments. While several actors including Neha Dhupia, Neena Gupta and Divyanka Tripathi have called out their online bullies, there are many who have disabled their comment sections in the past to protect themselves and their families from unnecessary trolling.

Recently, Aly Goni did something similar and quit Twitter for a while. The actor said that his sister, Ilham Goni, was receiving hateful comments and it was disturbing his peace of mind.

He wrote, “Saw some accounts abusing my sister and saying negative things.. I use to ignore things.. but this is something I can’t ignore. Bloody don’t u dare drag my family here… I m so angry right now I might delete my account.. hell with this.” He later shared another message that said, “I m going off Twitter for a while… lots of love to my people. peace out.”

We have to say, this is making us really, really sad and furious at the same time. It’s a shame that someone has to go through such a traumatic experience and feel unsafe behind their screen even at home. It’s even more awful that a bunch of people, who hold no accountability for their actions, are responsible for it.

Jasmin Bhasin also took to her social media handle shortly after her boyfriend’s tweet and asked everyone to spread love and avoid toxicity. She wrote, “I am neither blaming anyone nor misunderstanding anyone. Just requesting you all to stay positive and calm. When we don’t respond to toxicity, it dies itself. If you love me you’ll spread love, just love.”

While we’re hoping that Aly and Ilham ignore the hatred and focus only on their wellwishers, we also have one thing to say to the trolls out there—Let. People. Be.

The world would be a better place if people stopped projecting their own negativity on others.
