What’s Happening? All The Showstopper Looks at ICW Had One Major Thing In Common

Something major is happening at the 16th edition of the Indian Couture Week. We have never witnessed anything like this at any fashion show before. Shockingly, this year most of the couturiers are dressing up their celebrity showstoppers in the exact same outfit. Yeah, you read that right!

This year the Indian Couture Week showcased breathtaking collections blending India’s rich craftsmanship and modern silhouettes. While the designers dazzled us with their exquisite craft, we couldn’t help but notice the similar elements and detailing in each one of the outfits worn by most of the showstoppers. The similarities were so striking that it was enough to give us a hint for this year’s biggest fashion trend—slitted skirts and crop tops. If you think we are exaggerating, check out the looks below.

The fashion week started with Kiara Advani walking the ramp for Falguni Shane Peacock’ in their ‘Renaissance Reverie’ collection. She wore a heavily embellished pink indo-western set featuring a tiny bralette and a sequined skirt with a dramatic train and a thigh-high slit. But who would have thought that this was only the beginning of a major trend at the couture show?

After Kiara, Bhumi Pednekar walked the ramp for Varun Bahl in an exquisite beige top and skirt combo from their collection ‘Inner Bloom’. Her top resembled leaves whereas the skirt featured floral details that were hand embroidered on it. And just like Kiara, Bhumi’s fish-cut skirt too featured a thigh-high slit and a long trail.

Then Sobhita Dhulipala walked the ramp in Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna’s in a strikingly similar outfit. The only thing that made her stand out from the rest was a gorgeous dupatta with tassels and sequins on it.

Designer Rimzim Dadu also hopped on the slit-skirt-top bandwagon with Ananya Panday. Her outfit featured a molten gold leaf bustier top like the rest and an asymmetric skirt with a thigh-high slit. But unlike other designers, Rimzim decided to ditch the long train.

Last but not least, Dolly J Studio made their showstopper Disha Patani shine bright like a diamond in a glistening attire from her collection ‘Selene.’ Yes, the aesthetics were the same and yet the look was unique in its own right.

Despite the similarities, we are in love with the craftsmanship showcased by the designers. The couture show has proved to be a jaw-dropping extravaganza. From glitz to captivating elegance, it has given everything one could have asked for including the biggest trend of the season!
