This Is Alia Bhatt’s Secret To Remaining Stress-Free

Alia Bhatt is one nifty star. Be it her quirky Instagram pictures, sense of humour, or even beauty secrets, she always has something up her sleeve. And it’s safe to say we’re hooked to them!

So when Alia disclosed the contents of her bag, we obviously took notes. Apart from her favourite skincare products, kindle and daughter Raha’s basics (toys, burp cloth & more mom essentials), she also carries an essential product most women can’t step out without and is obsessed with. It’s also something that helps her de-stress at the end of the day.

Alia’s Favourite Method Of De-Stressing

“I’m obsessed with brushing my hair,” she says, taking out a hairbrush and instantly going over her hair with it in the video. Alia adds that when it’s been a really long day or there’s too much happening, and she needs to de-stress, “I actually just brush my hair and it makes me feel very relaxed.”

So much so that, post shoots when her hairstylist comes to brush her hair and get rid of the product, Alia declines and does it herself! “I really love and enjoy brushing my own hair so this is always with me,” she asserts, while playing with her low ponytail.

The Truth To Hair Brushing Correctly

We don’t really give much thought to brushing our hair. It’s just something we know we need to do regularly even though some of us (aka, me) would rather go with the messy, bed-head look. But there are so many benefits to brushing your hair and Alia’s favourite is only the tip of the iceberg!

The scalp produces natural oils that keep the hair healthy and shiny. Brushing the hair from the scalp to the tip helps evenly distribute these oils and also makes the hair shiny. This prevents the hair from looking too oily at the roots and too dry at the tips.

As Alia said, brushing her hair helps her de-stress. This is because brushing the scalp also acts as a light massage and stimulates the scalp, helping you relax.

The stimulation to the scalp even improves blood flow, which in turn boosts hair growth and leaves the hair looking and feeling much healthier.

Brushing your hair twice a day helps get rid of loose strands which will in turn allow new growth from the roots.

How Often Should You Brush Your Hair?

Old wives’ tales said that around 120-150 brush strokes every day were necessary to keep hair healthy. But in reality, over-brushing can lead to hair breakage which in turn leads to hair loss. Brushing your hair twice a day is ideal but can be subjective based on your hair type, length, texture, and everything else.
