We all know Alia Bhatt is currently one celebrity with the most bizarre makeup/skincare hacks. From wiping off her lipstick to moving her lips instead of the products, there are a series of things she does that make no sense to the common makeup connoisseur. But stars are built different, and it’s their job to know the best way to use or apply makeup.
Now I’m not the biggest fan of heavy foundation, but since I have large pores and a fair amount of acne, I do appreciate a no-foundation routine myself. Alia too, doesn’t seem to fancy foundation but still somehow seems to have an almost perfect base. So here’s a low-down on how to achieve that hydrated, glossy base without layers and layers of product. And they’re all Alia-approved!
A Step By Step Routine For Alia’s Smooth Base Without Foundation
Step 1: Ice Facials Are Cool
Alia revealed that she likes to cleanse her skin with an ice bath before applying any products. In an interview with Vogue, Alia said, “I usually wake up sort of puffy in the morning. Icing really helps take away that puffiness. It keeps your skin really lovely and tight.”
I can honestly say that this hack worked impressively well. A lot of my visible pores diminished in size after the first few uses and my entire face got a rosy glow. In fact, I also found that my skin absorbed products wayyy better after an ice facial.
Step 2: Moisturise, Moisturise, Moisturise
After two dunks in the icy cold water, she’s ready for the rest of her skincare. She can be seen using the D’you moisturiser and ISDIN sunscreen, both extremely hydrating products that help your skin glow and heal from the inside out.
Both are pretty expensive and the sunscreen is unavailable in India, so I’ve listed a dupe for each below.
Step 3: Illuminating Primer + Skin Tints For The Win
The Gangubai Kathiawadi star then goes in with a gorgeous skin tint that looks and feels like a second skin. This acts as the base for the rest of her makeup. Alia uses the IT Cosmetics CC+ foundation (dupes listed below) on top of an illuminating primer, and spreads the product evenly with her fingers.
Step 4: The Hailey Bieber Technique
The illuminating primer + skin tint hack is something a lot of celebrities and models alike have been practicing. Another advocate for this technique is none other than Hailey Bieber.
She layers them on top of her skincare for a super natural-looking, glowy base for the rest of her makeup. None of Alia’s go-to favourites are available in India, so here are two alternatives you can mix with your skin tints.
By prioritising skincare and opting for lightweight products, you can say bye to your heavy foundations and powders. While the icy facial might be a step out of the ordinary for many, its benefits are undeniable.
Coupled with the right moisturisers, skin tints, and glow drops – the result is a refreshingly natural and radiant appearance.
