Was Swimming In Tears: Aditi Rao Hydari Says Her Mental Health Took A Hit During Lockdown

It’s July already and still, it feels like we have ages to go before this nightmare of a year finally comes to an end. And even if some of us have been privileged enough to stay confined to our homes during the pandemic, it has certainly tried us all, mentally if not physically, and revealed our vulnerabilities. It has been a resounding reality check and it is humbling to see the best of us crumbling under the uncertainties and anxieties of the current time.

Just like everyone else, the entertainment industry has also been in a state of disarray all this while as tv and film stars share testimonies of the trying times and how it has taken a toll on their mental health. Actor Aditi Rao Hydari shared in a recent interview with a media platform that her mental health too a toll during the lockdown. In fact, she revealed that she was “swimming in tears” during the lockdown.

“I was anxious and swimming in tears. I missed being on the sets and was feeling frustrated that I couldn’t help people the way I wanted to,” she said. However, the actor did recognise that she has been “privileged” enough to be at her home and with her family during this trying phase with a support system that helped her find her balance. It was reaching out to her own people and helping them that pulled her out of the dark phase.

“Put a tub of muck in front of me and I will find something beautiful in it. So, I called my near and dear ones who were equally stressed, and helping them out helped me feel better,” she explained. Additionally, Aditi has also been indulging in activities that she didn’t really get the time to pursue all this while.

“In the last eight-nine years, I haven’t been able to give too much time to dance and music. I used to practice Kalari, but then, I stopped. The break gave me time to reconnect with my creative side. I was trying to get fluent in Telugu, my mother tongue. But since I am doing a Tamil film, I started getting confused and had to put that on the back-burner,” she shares.

Well, we are glad that Aditi managed to find a silver lining amidst all this chaos. She is now eagerly awaiting her film Sufiyum Sujatayum‘s OTT release, the very first film Malayalam film to have one. Best wishes to Aditi!
