Just a few months ago, Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao left us all in shock when the two announced their separation. While this announcement broke our hearts, we were also in awe of how the two handled their separation with grace and dignity. Unfortunately, right after their separation, rumours of Aamir’s alleged relationships surfaced online.
Recently, Aamir opened up on his decision to part ways with Kiran. He shared, “Kiran and I love each other so much. We have a lot of respect and love for one another. But people don’t get this and I accept it because we don’t see it usually. Actually, Kiran and I realised that we like each other so much and consider one another family in the truest sense. Kiran and I are actually families. But our relationship of husband and wife experienced a certain change and we wanted to respect the institution of marriage. However, we are always going to be by each other’s side. We are working together. We live close by. But we are no longer husband and wife and that’s why we decided to call it quits.”
Aamir also clarified that his relationship with Kiran didn’t end because of someone else. He shared, “There was no one back then, there is no one now.”
Aamir & Kiran’s Separation
Last year, Aamir and Kiran shared an official statement on their social media handles and announced their separation. The statement read, “In these 15 beautiful years together we have shared a lifetime of experiences, joy and laughter, and our relationship has only grown in trust, respect and love. Now we would like to begin a new chapter in our lives – no longer as husband and wife, but as co-parents and family for each other.” They also mentioned that they would continue collaborating on projects professionally and raising their son, Azad Khan, together.
It takes a lot of courage to admit that your relationship isn’t working the way you want it. It takes even more courage to walk out of it. NGL, we are glad to see how maturely Aamir and Kiran are handling their lives after the separation. There’s no nasty divorce battle here, and we are just happy to see them being so kind and supportive towards each other.
