Another day, another troll!
Star kids may appear to have it easy, but the amount of trolling they face is heartbreaking. The two most recent victims are Aaliyah Kashyap, Anurag Kashyap’s daughter, and Ida Ali, Imtiaz Ali’s daughter.
Aaliyah Kashyap recently shared a fundraiser link on her Instagram stories to help her bestie, Ida Ali, with her thesis film project. The story included a link to Ida’s fundraising page, and Aaliyah wrote, “Hi everyone! My bestie/sister @idaali11 is fundraising for her senior thesis film! It would mean so much if you could contribute any amount.”
Even something as innocent and simple as this irked the trolls. Aaliyah received a direct message from an Instagram user criticising her ‘privileged behaviour’. The user also told her that Ida’s “rich father,” filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, can afford to produce the film instead.
Aaliyah Gives It Back!
Aaliyah defended her bestie and slammed the troll by posting a screenshot of his message and explaining how fundraising is extremely common among film students. She further added, “Secondly, if her father produced her movie, then you would have a problem with it and call it nepotism and now that she’s trying to do it on her own that’s also apparently an issue?”
Well said, Aaliyah! Everyone deserves a friend like her.
This isn’t the first time Aaliyah has faced the wrath of the trolls. She went through brutal trolling in 2021 after she shared a picture wearing lingerie. She revealed that she received “the most vile, degrading, and disgusting comments” after sharing the picture, which was part of an ad campaign for an underwear brand.
While it took a toll on Aaliyah’s mental health, she bounced back and shunned the Internet by posting yet another IGDAF video of herself wearing lingerie!
Ida Ali’s Film Thesis
Ida is a film production student at Dodge College, which is part of Chapman University in California. She has directed several short films and also wrote the script for Amazon miniTV’s romantic drama Uljhe Hue, which stars Sanjana Sanghi and Abhay Verma. Her senior film thesis, called Red, is about a trusting girl who piques a stalker’s interest, leading him to an unexpected place. Sounds interesting, no?
There’s clearly no escape from this harsh side of the internet. More power to you Aaliyah !
