It’s no secret that we’ve been hooked to the show Anupama ever since it was released and for all the right reasons. It’s refreshing to watch a doormat bahu grow a spine and stand up for herself. Yes, the storyline was a tad bit problematic in the beginning, but things changed for good. From Anupama divorcing her cheating husband to following her heart, we’re glad the makers are finally giving us the content we deserve. If you happen to love the show as much as we do, we’ve got a major update to share. We hear that a prequel of the popular show is in the pipeline. That’s not all—for the first time in the history of Indian television, the prequel of a TV show will see the same cast reprise their roles for the OTT version. Sounds interesting, right?
Apparently, the prequel is going to be a short series featuring 11 episodes and will revolve around Anupama and Vanraj’s relationship after 10 years of their marriage. A little birdie tells us that we’ll get an insight into Anupama and Vanraj’s shaadi and will get to understand the way he treated her all those years. Sadly, this means that Anuj Kapadia won’t be a part of the storyline. The show will be aired on Disney Plus Hotstar.
Talking about the prequel, Gaurav Banerjee, Head, Content Disney Plus Hotstar and HSM Entertainment Network, Disney Star, said, “Experimenting with new formats is a norm at Disney Plus Hotstar, and this vision has led to the genesis of a prequel of audience’s favourite television show. Following the response to our recent titles, and the avid fan following for Anupama, we took the opportunity to further deepen their connection with the character in an all-new format.”
TBH, we’re not sure how we feel about the prequel. We all saw how Vanraj used to treat Anupama at the beginning of the show so we aren’t keen on watching him treat her badly again. In fact, Anupama has come a long way since she divorced Vanraj, so we fail to understand the entire point of showing the same ghisa pitta story once again? Well, we’ll have to wait and watch what the makers have in store for us.
