The hardest days are the days when you have little to no hope left, because that’s when the future looks very bleak. Unfortunately, we live in times when most days feel like that. For instance, there is almost no good news like, ever and whatever new happens is disappointing, if not hurting. Today, everywhere you go, you’re going to come across the video of a group of men yelling “No Seal, No Deal”.
This agenda translates to men asking women to keep their virginity ‘intact’ or else there will be no deal, which basically means that they won’t marry such women. The first response of most women put things into perspective: that virginity is a social construct, and also that no woman would want to be with such men. However, the harsh truth is, that we live in a society where women can easily be forced into a marriage with such men. These people in question also do not care about what women want or think, so as much as it makes sense to bring logic or science in the picture, it won’t work.
When we have so much to care about and so much to fight for, we have citizens who do this. The worst part is not even the misogyny (sadly) – it’s the fact that they could arrange such a row. This video also showcases them using foul ‘wordplay’ while slut shaming women.
I wouldn’t ask if women doing this would have been ‘allowed’, because such an act is just morally and ethically wrong, and it shouldn’t exist. The question is why men even have the privilege to not be worried when they say or do something so problematic. Because, if that doesn’t look like a hopeless society, I don’t know what does.
