The new year has officially kicked off! And while we are super excited to map out the beauty trends set to take over in 2023, this January, we’re focusing on letting go of beauty trends that didn’t serve us in 2022. Trust us, there are plenty of them. In 2022, we’ve seen full-blown glamm re-enter the chat alongside bleached brows, heaps of glitter, and more Instagram trends than we can count. So today, we’re listing down five beauty trends we think will die out and the ones that will claim the throne. Keep reading if you want to peek into our glamm crystal ball and help us say goodbye to these 2022 beauty trends. #RIP.
We Are Consciously Uncoupling From These Five Beauty Trends In 2023
Thank You: 20–Step Makeup Routine, Next: Effortless, Easy Glamm
We would spend hours perfecting our face beat before the pandemic hit the world, but we’ve somewhat scratched that word off from our beauty vocabulary. Our makeup routine which used to be composed of 13426 steps is now reduced to half. 2023 is gonna be all about easy-to-wear, easier-to-apply, and multi-tasking beauty products. But don’t get us wrong, we’re not letting go of full-blown glamm altogether – you’ll still catch us flaunting a beat, laid with utmost precision. But on most days, we’ll keep things minimal with glowy skin, flushed cheeks, and a few coats of mascara.
Buh-Bye: Non-Inclusive Beauty Brands
In 2023, we’re saying #RIP to non-inclusive beauty brands. If a brand doesn’t have a shade range that reflects every beautiful skin tone, the beauty community won’t put up with it anymore. Plain and simple!
Thank You: 15-Step Skincare Routine, Next: Simplified Skincare
In 2023, we’re not just optimising our makeup routine, but our skincare routine will follow the lead too. Gone are the days of a 15-step skincare regimen. The thing is, we realised we don’t need an essence, a toner, 3 serums, a face oil, and a moisturiser, and neither do you. While we’ll still be indulging in self-care Saturdays, mostly, we’re all in for simplifying our skincare routines with 2-in-1 formulas.
Thank You: Over Styling Hair, Next: Hair Health
We put our hair through so much – pulling, tugging, heat styling. Hairspray. Well, we’re saying buh-bye to over-styling hair in 2023. Instead, you’ll see us prioritising hair health and embracing our natural hair texture. Join us and your scalp and tresses will thank you for this!
Thank You: Major Procedures, Next: Subtle Treatments
The beauty community will be seen favouring subtle enhancements in place of major cosmetic procedures. We’re gonna veer toward a more natural vibe which will be reflected in surgical trends too. We’ll see non-surgical treatments such as facelifts and baby botox and micro-filler that replaces traditional facelifts and excessively filled lips.
