There are hundreds of ways to pamper your skin. You can either invest in top-quality skincare products or experiment with a bunch of cool skincare gadgets. Speaking of the latter, massaging beauty rollers, nano current facial devices, acne led light therapy, blackhead remover machines – the list goes on! However, there’s a new skincare gadget that’s taken the beauty world by storm – and that’s a skin spatula! What is it? How to use it? You’ll find all the answers to your questions below.
What Is A Skin Spatula?
A skin spatula is a handheld skincare gadget which emits ultrasonic vibrations into the skin to exfoliate and clean the skin. Not only does it make the pores squeaky clean, but it also scrapes out dirt and excess sebum. To use a skin spatula, you must press it firmly on your skin and slowly move upward. How many times to use it, you ask? It all depends on your skin type. If you have oily or combination skin, you can use it twice or thrice a week. If you have dry and sensitive skin, once a week is more than enough.
Is It Worth The Hype?
It’s also about personal preference. Many dermatologists don’t recommend this skincare gadget because not many people know how to use it properly. If they apply too much pressure on the skin while using the skin spatula, and if not careful, it can lead to bruising, inflammation, swelling and capillary damage. Since blackheads should not ideally be removed using force, there is a high possibility that the skin spatula will leave scars and marks on your skin.
This is a skincare gadget you don’t want to toy around if you have no experience with using it. A great way to exfoliate and remove dead skin cells is to get a facial done from a dermatologist. Even mechanically exfoliating your skin using a face scrub is safer for a skincare beginner after using a skin spatula. Another important point to add is that skin spatulas are expensive and if money is not an issue, then you should give it a try. However, if you end up hurting your skin, wash your face with lukewarm water and apply aloe vera to soothe the skin. If you have an ice roller lying around at home, use it calm your skin down. It will work wonders!
