Do Your Research First

The beauty universe is flooded with thousands of products promising to be the next big thing. Some are worth splurging but there are a lot of products that do more harm than good. Whenever you’re looking for a new toner, serum, cleanser, or moisturiser – Make it a point to read reviews online, check out its rating or do a quick search for before and after shots. Always look at its key ingredients and what skin type they’re best suited for.

Do: Be Careful While Mixing Ingredients

While there’s an ever-growing list of hero ingredients that promise to be the next big thing in the skincare world. However, using too many powerful ingredients all at once can overwhelm your skin. From brightening retinol and vitamin C to exfoliating heroes like AHAs and BHAs, check out our guide to learn how to cocktail these active ingredients.

Do Layer In The Correct Order

Application of skin products in the wrong order will prevent it from being absorbed properly, hampering it from serving its purpose. The general rule is to apply lightweight formulas first so they can easily be absorbed without the barrier of heavier creams. Also, make sure there’s a gap of 30 secs after you apply each skincare layer. We recommend following this step-by-step guide when layering your skincare products.

Do Start With A Good Cleanse

Upgrade the first vital step of your skincare routine by opting for a good cleanser. Invest in an indulgent, cream cleanser and follow it up with your skincare products and SPF. PS: Double cleanse your skin after a long day of wearing makeup. We swear the amount of makeup removed in the second wash will leave you surprised.

Don’t Use Everything At Once

If you’ve built up an extensive collection of skincare products, try curating a weekly plan to know what products you will use on what days. For example, if you’ve just exfoliated, you would probably not want to follow with a strong glycolic acid toner but opt for a more hydrating option instead. Likewise, if you’ve used retinol the night before then consider using hydrating formulas the next morning, and definitely, don’t skip the SPF.

Don’t: Skip The SPF

Not wearing sunscreen leaves your skin vulnerable to premature aging, sun damage, pigmentation, and skin cancer. PSA: Apply sunscreen every day as the last step of your skincare routine and before makeup application. Your SPF should offer broad-spectrum (UVA & UVB) protection with a minimum SPF of 30.
