Kajal was probably when I forayed into beauty territory for the first time ever! I started wearing it when I was in the 8th grade and it became a staple in my kit, even though we weren’t allowed to wear it to school! Over time, I started using the same pencil as eyeliner and then eventually gave up tightlining my waterline altogether. I think kajal will always be my favourite product because of how easy it is to use and the nostalgia it evokes. One swipe is all it takes to make an impact!

Kajal has been my fave makeup item since the 8th grade! I remember getting called into the principal’s room so many times as we weren’t allowed to wear it in school. But, did I stop applying it? No!
Even today, I cannot face people unless I’ve applied the stroke of my fave kajal. For me, it has become my identity in a way as I do not remember the last time anyone saw me without it and honestly, I feel a little ‘bland’ when my eyes aren’t kohl-rimmed.

I don’t consider Kajal as makeup. Kajal is a necessity. I can’t imagine myself bare eyes just like I cannot think of stepping out of my house without sunblock. Remember school days when we had no idea that smudge-proof kajal sticks existed? Yep, I was roaming around with smokey eye makeup look even then. I also use it as an eyeliner in fact! As I have hooded eyes, I avoid going overboard with kajal nowadays and stick to a very thin stroke on the waterline or just on the outer corners. Also, I’m experimenting with white kajal nowadays and think that after some practice, will deface the look!

Kajal has been a part of my life since a very young age but somehow I’ve always had a love-hate relationship with it. I love it but I don’t ‘cuz honestly, it just ALWAYS bleeds. No matter how much I enjoy putting kajal, I always end up with panda eyes. And I’ve tried all the tricks to prevent that from happening and all the kajal brands but NOTHING EVER WORKS. That’s probably why I’ve always been an eyeliner person, kajal just doesn’t do it for me, unless it’s Halloween or something!

As much as I like a good kajal look on everyone else, I have made peace with the fact that it’s not for me. For whenever I have tried a kajal (ANY kajal), it has ended up causing irritation and watery eyes within seconds. Goes without saying that I don’t miss it and for the rest, there’s still eyeliner!

Kajal was the first makeup product I ever tried. It was for a school function in the seventh grade and my entire dormitory used the same pencil. Turns out, one girl had conjunctivitis and so all of us got the extremely painful eye infection. Gross, I know! Ever since then, I’ve not liked kajal- it looks great on so many people but it’s just not for me. It makes my eyes look small, smudges quickly and makes my makeup look messy. I’m a mascara, eyeliner and lipstick girl all the way!
