In A Long-Distance Relationship? 7 Virtual V-Day Date Ideas To Make It Extra Special

Love is already in the air, especially now that Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. Not that we need a special day to celebrate love, but hey, why the hell not? Now, we know that being in a long-distance relationship (LDR) is hard enough, but it just gets tougher around Valentine’s Day when there are loads of heart-shaped balloons, chocolates and all that mush around you.

Celebrating this day of love with your partner virtually is not the same as doing it IRL, but distance should not stop you from making each other feel special and loved. And like they say, ‘where there’s a will there’s always a way’. But then again, since the pandemic began, virtual dates have become the new normal. Plus being in an LDR doesn’t mean that an occasion like Valentine’s Day has to be any less romantic. We’ve listed some sure-shot ways to make this day extra special with your significant other (SO) even if they’s miles away.

1. Learn With Your Love

Being stuck miles apart is not a good enough reason to not learn something together. With COVID-19 pandemic and everything, there’s a large variety of online classes available. So, celebrate this day of love by taking up a one day class or workshop together and learn something new with your bae (virtually) by your side.

2. Virtual Movie Marathon

Instead of watching that rom-com alone, make a list of all the films you want to watch and have a movie marathon with your bae. You might not be able to cuddle together but you can always stream the movies together while you curl up in your respective beds with that bowl of popcorn.

3. Write A Love Letter

via TENOR

We’re so busy living in our digital world that we’ve forgotten all about the old school ways of loving. There’s no better way to express your feelings and make the love of your life feel special than a romantic handwritten love letter. So, stop thinking and start writing that letter. Psst…you can always put a heart-shaped sticker on the letter or spray some of your perfume on it, or even better watermark it with kisses!

4. Surprise Trip

There’s nothing better than giving him a hug IRL. Instead of splurging on getting them expensive presents, gift them some of your time. Book that flight and land up at your partner’s doorstep to surprise them. And let’s face it, you’ve been dying to see them!

5. Treasure Hunt

Pick up that phone and dial your bae’s BFF or roommate for some V-Day prep and help. Put together a fun treasure hunt for your partner to find their gifts one by one and make sure that they’re not too easy to find.

6. A Trip Down The Memory Lane

Now if planning a trip to surprise your partner is not possible, you can always take them on a trip down the memory lane. Dig out all those old pictures and ‘your’ song or songs and make the love of your life a special romantic video or even better a music video. You can even make your SO a good old mix-tape. We bet you’ll spend the rest of the night recalling those beautiful memories.

7. Send Them Your Perfume

You can video call each other 10 times a day but it’ll never be the same as seeing each other in person and being able to hold hands and more importantly being able to smell each other. TBH, the scent of your S.O. is not just a turn on but also a source of comfort. You might not be able to meet them but you can always send them your perfume or even better, a tee worn by you with some of your perfume on it. This will 100% make your partner feel closer to you.

So if you are unable to celebrate this Valentine’s Day with bae, don’t let it make you feel low. Remember that love comes in all forms and your family and loved ones are just as special. So, celebrate this Valentine’s Day with them and let them know that they matter.
