Using plain water to wash your makeup brushes is not enough to get rid of all the product build-up. Not only will it be time-consuming but you will also end up over-washing the bristles. Use baby shampoo along with water to clean your makeup brushes. Baby shampoo will gently cleanse your bristles and won’t ruin their texture.

Water Temperature Matters

We would not recommend that you wash your makeup brushes with ice-cold water or piping hot water. The extreme temperature of the water can damage the bristles and spoil the glue of the makeup brush. Lukewarm water is the ideal temperature to wash your makeup brushes.

Applying unnecessary pressure while washing your makeup brush will damage the bristles of the brush. Avoid pressing them on the palm of the hand as this will damage the shape of the brush. On the contrary, use your fingers to wash the bristles and remove product residue.

Soaking All The Makeup Brushes In One Bowl

Avoid doing easy work. Clean your brushes one by one instead of doing them altogether. Soaking your makeup brushes in one bowl will make the brushes dirtier, and that will take you longer to clean. Each makeup brush requires your time and undivided attention.

After washing your makeup brushes, do not dry them with a blow dryer. The hot air can burn the bristles and damage the brush. You will have to place each brush on a clean and dry towel and allow them to air-dry for a few hours.

And that’s how you take care of your makeup brushes! If you follow these steps, they will last you for a good year and if you’re lucky, even longer. It all boils do to how gentle you are with them while washing each brush and how patient you are while doing it. Happy cleaning!
