Rosehip Oil 101: What Is It & How To Apply It On Your Skin For Maximum Benefits

how to apply rosehip oil

You can't deny the fact that face oils are currently the hottest beauty products in the market today. Available in different variants like jojoba, avocado and almond oil, these plant oils help to moisturise, nourish and hydrate the skin. Right now, the world is going gaga about rosehip oil. It's perfect for dry skin types and is rich in antioxidants and fatty acids. Using this face oil on the daily helps to heal the skin, reduce scars and fine lines.

What Is The Colour & Texture Of Rosehip Oil?

Depending on the quality of rosehip oil, the colour can range from deep golden to dark, reddish-orange. If you take a look at the ingredient list, pure rosehip oil should have only one ingredient, and that is rosa canina (cold-pressed rosehip seed oil).

If the rosehip oil colour is a colourless or pale yellow, it is of inferior quality. A strange fact about rosehip oil is that it smells NOTHING like roses. It has a subtle woody scent to it. However, when applied on damp skin, it tends to instantly melt into the skin and offer deep hydration. This very quality of rosehip oil makes it a perfect beauty product for women with dry skin

How To Apply Rosehip Oil On The Skin?

When it comes to using rosehip oil, a little goes a long way. 2-3 drops of it are more than enough for the skin on your face and neck. Here is the correct way to use rosehip oil.

Step 1: Post cleansing, toning and exfoliating apply a little of rosehip oil on the face and the neck.

Step 2: Now wait for the oil to completely get absorbed into the skin

Step 3: After 5 minutes, follow it up with a moisturiser to lock in the hydration.

And you're done! Wondering how many times to use it? Twice a day should be fine.

Note: Rosehip oil can also be used on the body as well. Apply it on the dry parts of your body like your knees, elbows and inner thighs for that extra dose of hydration. If you do not have time to layer the product, what can do is add 2-3 drops of rosehip oil with your moisturiser. Since it's a rich source of antioxidants, vitamins and essential fatty acids, using this product regularly will help to reduce fine lines, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation.
