Spotted: Manhattan's Elite Filming The Gossip Girl Reboot On The Steps Of The Met

Your one and only source into the scandalous lives of Manhattan’s elite is back! No guesses there, we are talking about the Gossip Girl reboot. The production of the iconic show’s reboot commenced from November first week and the new star cast has been revealed.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina fame Whitney Peak, Pretty Little Liars star Eli Brown, and The Babysitter actress Emily Alyn Lind will be seen in the leading trio. HBO has also roped in Tavi Gevinson (Scream Queens), Thomas Doherty (Legacies), Adam Chanler-Berat, Evan Mock, and Zion Moreno as main characters.

So, while we might not get to see our favourite Upper East Siders Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) and Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) in the reboot, we do get a glimpse of their usual meeting spot. If you have followed the OG Gossip Girl religiously like us, then you’d definitely remember the infamous stairs of the Metropolitan Museum of Arts (The Met). That’s where the original gang used to meet up to--well, gossip--and discuss their plots and schemes. Interestingly, that’s where the new star cast of the show was recently spotted! Have a look!

The cast looked super stylish in their uniforms and frankly, quite judgemental with their expressions-well, we can’t expect anything less from the show, can we? Just a few days ago, Eli Brown and Whitney Peak were spotted in New York shooting for the show. Brown sported a dark mock neck sweater underneath a beige woollen jacket while Peak donned a stylish metallic dress in long sleeves. Check out how stunning they look!

The makers of the OG show, Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage will be running the show once again along with screenwriter Joshua Safran. Some refreshing news for fans of the show - the Gossip Girl reboot will be a lot more inclusive than last time and will include characters from the LGBTQ+ community as well.

Joshua said in an interview to a leading international publication recently, “There was not a lot of representation the first time around on the show. I was the only gay writer I think the entire time I was there. Even when I went to private school in New York in the ’90s, the school didn’t necessarily reflect what was on Gossip Girl. So, this time around the leads are nonwhite. There’s a lot of queer content on this show. It is very much dealing with the way the world looks now, where wealth and privilege come from, and how you handle that. The thing I can’t say is there is a twist, and that all relates to the twist.”

While the makers did not reveal any more information, they said that the show’s timeline has not been interrupted. Safran said, “It is 12 years, I guess 13 years after the original. So we are in realtime from the original where we are in the show.”

Well, we can’t wait to hear Kristen Bell once again welcome us to the world of Gossip Girl. Until then, you know you love me, XOXO!
