5 Ayurveda Beauty Rituals To Add To Your Self-Care Routine When You’re Feeling Stressed

5 Ayurveda Beauty Rituals To Add To Your Self-Care Routine When You’re Feeling Stressed

The word ‘Ayurveda‘ comes from the Sanskrit language and translates into ‘the science of everyday living’. In today’s uncertain atmosphere and tense environment, it is important to look back at the rituals that have been passed down to us through generations that will help us revitalise our mind and body.

When we talk about beauty in Ayurveda, it isn’t only synonymous with a healthy diet and following healing rituals but also looks at ideas of love, freedom, peace, inner divinity, and radiance from within. So when you’re feeling anxious or stressed out, these Ayurvedic rituals may help you calm your nerves.

The Ayurvedic practice of abhyanga, or a warm-oil massage is basically a self-care treatment that’s done in the morning, before bathing. It penetrates deep within the skin and nourishes the body. The massage itself also helps remove toxins from tissues and improve circulation and digestion. It even helps calm down the nervous system and gives you a radiance from within. Massage the oil in your skin for ten minutes and then rest for another ten to really let the hydration sink in.

Use A Hair Mask To Calm Your Nerves

Sometimes all you need is a good ol’ haircare routine to calm your nerves. Even if you’re swamped with work, take out five minutes and whip up a hair mask in the kitchen and leave it on for thirty minutes. Just the act of massaging your head and nourishing your hair can be extremely beneficial. We suggest mixing aloe vera, curd, and olive oil and applying it to your roots for shinier and silkier hair.

Use A Neem Face Pack If You’re Getting Stress Breakouts

Trust me, I totally understand how frustrating stress breakouts can be on your skin. First, you’re struggling through life and then the breakouts make you even more stressed, pushing you into a vicious cycle. Ayurveda suggests that using a neem pack will really help. Crush some neem leaves into a paste and apply it as a spot treatment on the breakouts. However, do this with caution as neem is a potent ingredient and could dry out your skin if used too often.

Make Ghee Your Best Friend

When we are extremely stressed, it starts to show on our skin. Your under-eye area is puffy and dark and insomnia is very real. Ayurveda talks about ghee being the natural lubricant we all need. So, use a pea-sized amount on your ring finger and massage it under your eyes before sleeping every night. You can even use it to nourish your chapped lips and dry elbows and knees.

Your Beauty Sleep Is Essential

We all know that a night of sound sleep is important to lower your stress levels and improve skin health but if you have trouble falling asleep, Ayurveda has the answer. Take half a glass of milk, add half a glass of water, a quarter teaspoon of turmeric, and a pinch of nutmeg, and boil this concoction well. Drink this before going to bed because it has loads of health benefits. Turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties and helps reduce stress, insomnia, and anxiety. Nutmeg calms the mind and improves sleep quality and milk helps carry these spices to different parts of the body.

Before you get to bed, cleanse your skin well, hydrate it with love and trust us you’ll see a difference in your quality of sleep as well as a radiance on your skin.
