We're all familiar with the term half girlfriend. If you're not, good on you because it is most certainly NOT the ideal situation to be in. According to Uban Dictionary, being a half girlfriend means you are that girl who's talking to someone or you have a thing with someone but you're not officially that person's girlfriend. If the definition itself does not sound problematic to you, we will give you a simple reason why it's important to withdraw and pull yourself back, STAT.
If a person is your half 'someone' then they neither give you an opportunity to be someone who truly loves you nor be that person for you. And they won't even be willing to take things forward with you. People who leave you feeling like half-something are toxic and selfish, and they should not be a part of your life because they will bring you down. They may be telling you they're 'taking their time' or 'thinking about it', but TBH, they're not. We've all been there, right?
If you're in a situation where you're someone's half someone, here are a few things you can do to get out of this situation.
Communication is the key. Talk to them about what you feel because it's important for them to know that you're not okay with being in the middle.
We're all confused about things at times. It is good for you to convey your feelings, but it's also important to give them some time to think about your situation.
You have been in this situation because you have been okay with it so far. But now that you have taken a step, understand that they were not doing it intentionally. Talk to each other and figure it out together.
Sometimes, the other person is waiting for you to take the first step. The possibility of this situation changing in your favour can be a lot or nothing. But you need to know that you can always get an answer (good or bad) as soon as you decide to talk to them.
If being on one side was the ultimate goal of this conversation then know that by the end of it, you will be. You will either find a committed partner or you will be on your way to find one. Either way, it will be good for you!
