Nail Polish Gone Bad? Here Are 5 Creative Ways To Give It A New Purpose

Nail Polish Gone Bad? Here Are 5 Creative Ways To Give It A New Purpose

They say good things come in small packages and interestingly, that philosophy applies to nail polishes as well. Tiny in size, nail polishes are capable of doing so much more than just colouring your nails. If you have old nail polishes at home that either smell funny or have gotten discoloured, don’t throw them away just yet. Simply find a new purpose for them. That’s where we come in!

5 Amazing Old Nail Polish Hacks

Not just amazing, these alternative nail polish uses are genius too! You can thank us later.

To Waterproof Address Labels On Parcels

If you’re planning to send someone a parcel during the monsoon, chances are the ink on the address will smudge when it comes in contact with water. To prevent this from happening, simply brush a coat of clear transparent polish all over the label so that the ink doesn’t budge from its place.

To Seal An Envelope

It’s 2020 and we don’t need to use glue or saliva anymore to seal envelopes. Your old nail polish will do the trick! All you have to do is apply a li’l bit of nail polish on the underside of the envelope flap and seal it. You can make it prettier by using coloured nail polish to paint your initials over the sealed flap tip. Whoever you’re giving that letter too is bound to feel touched and loved by your effort.

To Revive Artificial Jewellery

Artificial jewellery is pretty and all until the colour starts to fade or worse–rust. Depending on whether your jewellery is gold or silver, use a similar coloured nail paint to make it look brand new! In case of the latter, first, brush away the rust using your toothpaste (Colgate like consistency, not gel) and then apply a coat of clear nail polish all over it. Bye-bye, rust, no returns!

P.S. Post painting, allow the nail polish to air-dry for about two hours or more, otherwise, it will stain your skin.

To Prevent That Nail From Breaking

That small tear in the nail can be extremely painful and frustrating. What you can do is take a small cut-out from a tea bag and gently place it over the tear, within the edges of your nail. Then, apply some clear nail polish to it and allow it to air-dry for about 5 minutes. Apply your favourite nail colour to cover the tear et voilà.

To Colour Code Your Keys

Two many keys on that tiny keychain can be confusing. Carrying them separately can be bulky. What to do? Colour coding your keys with the help of different nail polishes can make your life easier. You’ll never have to shuffle from key to key ever again!
