Spoiler alert: Here’s a solution for every type of skin concern.

Papaya Pulp For That Radiant Glow

I am one of those people who does absolutely nothing for my skin–I wash my face, forget to apply moisturiser, never apply SPF and get by life like that. However, I do believe in DIY skincare and home remedies and try to facemask at least once a week. The one thing that my mother has been making me do for years is put papaya pulp on my face to improve radiance and glow and it’s worked really well! I also scrub my face with an orange peel and milk paste so that my pores are squeaky clean.

Tomato Juice To Fade Away Blemishes Faster

A skincare hack that I swear by is applying tomato juice on my skin before sleeping (yes, I don’t wash it off) to remove acne scars. Rich in Vitamin C and antioxidants, this also helps me wake up with a natural glow. Now, this has been working really well for me but I wouldn’t recommend it if you have sensitive skin. Tomatoes have citric acid in them which can cause inflammation, especially if your skin is sensitive.

Aloe Vera For Baby Soft Skin

Aloe vera is one of the few skincare ingredients that gets absorbed into the skin instantly. While you can apply aloe vera gel directly to your face, I like to make a mist out of it. I mix 2 tbsps of aloe gel, 4 tbsps of rose water and 1-2 drops of lemon juice in a spray bottle. Using it every night before bed lets me I wake up to soft, supple skin in the morning. How does it work? Aloe vera soothes and hydrates the skin, rose water maintains the skin’s pH balance, and Vitamin C in lemon protects the skin cells from free radical damage.

Graham Flour & Curd For Clearer Skin

I don’t have an elaborate skincare routine but have been following one since a really long time now. Graham flour and curd is my go-to concoction for all kinds of skin woes. No matter what my skin wants, this mixture rescues me every time. It subsides the pimples and also scrubs off the dead skin. Best part? It’s super easy to make at home! Ask your mom, she’ll know what I mean.

Ice Cubes To Naturally Tighten Pores

My go-to skincare hack is as easy as it gets and doesn’t cost me a penny. Also, it works like a charm! Curious what it might be? *And drumrolls* It’s ice! On lazy days, all I do in the name of skincare is take a cube of ice and massage it all over my face in circular motions. It takes off the access oil, rejuvenates the skin, and leaves it visibly cleaner and brighter. FYI, this is a great hack to make your makeup last longer too! Just go for an ice massage (or use a jade roller) right before you apply makeup and see the difference yourself!

Fuller’s Earth To Soothe The Skin

My skin is prone to acne and therefore I refrain from using any beauty products that have chemicals in them. I swear by my all-natural fuller’s earth face pack. It’s been quite long since I’m using it and has been working wonders for my skin. I mix it with some rose water until a paste is formed, apply it until it dries, and wash it off. Yup, it’s that simple.

Aloe Vera Pulp To Heal Hyperpigmentation

I don’t have an extensive skincare regime and the bit that keeps it super easy is the go-to essential that I rely on—aloe vera! For over a year now, I have been using fresh aloe vera from my garden and it has worked wonders on my skin, right from hydrating to keeping it healthy and helping out with pigmentation. I usually keep some handy in the fridge and apply some at night, washing it off in the morning; it cools the skin, keeps it supple, and works like a charm!

Benzoyl Peroxide (5%) To Keep The Acne At Bay

I had a bad spurt of cystic acne in my early twenties, and although my skin is crystal-clear now, I’m extremely careful about what I put on my face. My skincare routine is minimal, and I don’t go crazy with DIYs because I’m too afraid of how certain ingredients will react to my skin (newsflash: just because something is ‘natural’, doesn’t mean it’s good for your skin!). But when I do get the odd hormonal acne, I have a fool-proof hack for it: prescription-strength Benzoyl Peroxide (5%). I apply it as soon as I see a tiny bump forming, and most of the time, it disappears within 24 hours. The best part? It’s super cheap and you can get it at your local chemist.
