Have you ever sat in front of a mirror late at night, and think about how you would look if you could tweak certain features--fuller lips or bigger eyes? While it's natural to sometimes feel insecure about your looks, remember that you're beautiful exactly the way you are.
However, nobody said that you can't use makeup to play up some of your features. Personally, I've always wondered how fuller lips, like those of Kylie's, would look on me. And no, I do not wish to get a permanent treatment for this. So, overlining my lips with a lip liner it is!
Ever since beauty moguls like Kylie Jenner and Huda Kattan showed us how to overline or contour your lips using a good lip liner, we have literally forgotten how to do our lips any other way! It looks sensual, effortless and so pouty!
Wondering how you can overline your stunning lips so they look like one of those #InstgramFilters? Then continue reading!
To save yourself from finding a lip liner that matches perfectly with your lipstick, buy a lipstick + lip liner set, and let's hop onto this popular beauty trend.
Never saw a nude we didn't like!
Since you'd be overlining your lips, it's better to start with a softer shade so that if you make a mistake, it's not clearly visible.
Now that we have our required beauty tools, it's time to go big...on the lips!
Use your lip liner to draw on your cupid's bow. Look clearly where the *outline* of your lips is and draw slightly over them. You can, most definitely start from anywhere you want but defining your cupid's bow straightaway sets the tone for the entire look. Try it once, and you'll see what we're talking about.
Once you've successfully drawn over your cupids bow, outline your lips completely. Do not even worry about your lip liner going awry inside your lips as your lipstick shall take care of it. Once you're done with overlining your lip, stand back and have a look at your lips. Look for symmetry and make sure it doesn't look unnatural.
Pro tip: If you have a bigger lower lip, do not go crazy with overlining them because there's a 100% chance that it will spread on your chin as they day passes. Take it from personal experience and no, it doesn't look artsy, at all!
If you're happy with the way your lips look, fill in your lips with the lipstick.
As easy as this sounds, it's definitely not a cakewalk. You have to practise it a lot of times before you get it right but once you do, you can do overline your lips with your eyes closed!
If you're a pro at outlining your lips, you can also add another step to it. Apply concealer before outlining your lips for a super impactful pout. Here's how you can do it.
PS: When in doubt, pout it out 💋
